A sigh of relief...

I know I've been slacking in the blogging/updating department, but I've been so preoccupied the past few days, I just haven't had time. Honestly, I haven't done much on the computer lately.

Well, my mom had her surgery Tuesday afternoon and everything went great! It was about a 4 hour surgery, all of which was spend pacing, worrying, doing odd things that didn't need to be done, more worrying, more pacing, and then some. I was so relieved when I got to talk to my aunt and she told me that she was out and in CICU.

LaVaughn and I drove up yesterday afternoon and sat with her for a few hours. It broke my heart to see her like that. I wanted just bust into tears and tell her how much I loved her. Luckily, I didn't cry, at least not until we got ready to leave. I just stood next to her the entire time and held her hand. She was so sleepy, but kept keeping herself awake so that she could talk to us.

The poor thing was so incredibly uncomfortable, but she was slouched down on the bed and could't take deep breaths. She felt a lot better when the nurse came in and sat her up in a chair.

Right before we left, LaVaughn and I had to go find the cafeteria so that we could break $100 bill. And, of course, we got lost on the way back. Not just one wrong turn and you end up on the wrong floor lost, but severely lost. We ended up on every floor of the hospital, traveled through "the back ally" which apparently NO one uses -- the nurse said so --, and even ended up in some creepy basement. Yeah, it was awful.

By the time we made it back to the room we only had 30 more minutes to spend with her. Like I said, everything was good up until we got ready to leave, then LaVaughn and I both lost it. I hated to, because I know it just made her even more upset. We finally pulled ourselves together and left.

The ride home from the hospital last night was awful. First, there were 2 cute little puppies in the middle of the highway where there was heavy traffic. LaVaughn chased them down, then we took them to a house with other dogs to ask if that's where they belonged. Sure enough, it was. The, when we passed Sam A. Baker state park, we hit a damn opossum! And somehow, it tore the liner that covers the oil filter off.

It drug all down the road for about 8 miles. We just knew we had a flat, then we both thought we were dragging the opossum carcass under the car. Yeah, imagine the vision that was going through my mind. We finally made it to Des Arc where we stopped at the gas station to see what was wrong. That's when we realized what it was.

So today when I woke up, I had to take the car to the local shop in Annapolis so see if it could be fixed for replaced. Luckily, it wasn't anything severe and he was just able to zip-tie it back on.

LaVaughn and I decided to go on into town while we were out and about. I'm glad we did too, cause there was a MAJOR sale on produce. Tomatoes (yellow, red, and green) and peaches were all 1 pounds for $1! I couldn't believe it! Cucumbers were 3 for $1 and I believe corn, not too sure. We ended up leaving with a dozen peaches and over a dozen tomatoes. It was a steal.

I found an awesome little dry erase board while we were in the store and I just had to have it! I've always wanted one for the fridge, so I finally got it! I wrote down a mile long to-do list, all of which was completed. Thank you very much.

The glider's pouches were changed, joey pictures were taken, the laundry was finished. You name it, I did it! I'm very proud of myself too. I can't wait to make another to-do list tomorrow!

Well, since I still feel like I'm going to explode from my delicious Italian chicken dinner, I believe I'm going to call it a night.

Love & Peace
