Guess what we caught last night...

An armadillo! I shit you not my friend, an actual armadillo! It all started around 11PM when the neighbor dogs started scrambling off of our porch - all the while barking and growling. You can tell a difference in their growls when they have some type of animal captured. So as soon as we heard, we were off!

When we got outside, we saw them running around and chasing something. We both bolted off of the porch and ran towards them. Stupid... I know. When we got close enough, we realised that it was an armadillo. Luckily, they chased it under the car - which gave us time to chase the dogs down and tie them up. After that we headed back inside to give the dillo time to relax and go about his business.

An hour had passed and we decided to go back outside to see if he was gone. Well... he wasn't. In fact, he was in the same exact place that we left him. We tried to coax him out with a board, which was pointless. That's when I decided to move the car. I got in a pulled up enough to uncover him. I got out and we proceeded to try and give him a little nudge to get him on his well. Yeah, that didn't work either. That's when we had the big idea of trying to capture him and bring him in for a day or two. The only reason we were even considering that was because he seemed injured. The cage we had was our small one that Hollis lived in. We realized that the dillo was WAY too big and decided to just leave him uncovered and hope that he would go on him way. We left the cage tilted up next to him so that we would have a marker as to where he was at.

We went back inside for another hour and then decided to go back and see if he had gone. Yeah, not even close! He did move, though - moved under that cage that we had tilted up! We started to feel super sorry for him then and just knew that we had to pin him up, if even for the night! Instead of using that small cage, we decided to use Sadie and Pip's old cage. We tilted it on its front and put one of the doors over him. This worked pretty well, except for the fact that he kept digging a hole and putting his entire upper half under the ground! This made it exceptionally hard to get him into the cage. After about 30-40 minutes of pushing and nudging, we FINALLY got him in the cage! We decided to put him in the bard for the night where none of the dogs could get to him. We gave him bread, dog food and water for the night and partially covered the cage. So yeah, that's our armadillo story. Hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. :O)

Love & Peace
