Eagle's Nest

 I was turned on to a local Eagle's Nest by someone that came in the store I once worked at. It wasn't until I tried to find an Eagle last week that I remembered it. The details in my mind were very few, but I had a general idea as to where it was. Mind you, I did get terrified a time or two due to all the curves, turns and forks.

Luckily everything worked out and I was able to find the place. I took my telephoto lens with me in hopes of catching a shot, but there were no Eagles to be seen. It wasn't until LaVaughn noticed an Eagle head inside the next in one of her photos. I zoomed in on a couple of mine and, sure enough, there was an Eagle. These pictures are definitely not the best, but at least it was worth the drive. 

I'd like to go back next week or the week after on a warmer, sunnier evening to try and see them outside their next. Fingers crossed!

I never would have imagined that an Eagle would make a nest in such opened and exposed place.

I'm fairly certain this tree is dead as well.

But perhaps it's the strongest tree in the area.

I really have no knowledge when it comes to an Eagle's Nest.

I guess it just blows my mind that there's an actual, visual Eagle's Nest in Annapolis, MO.

My heart and soul...

I was supposed to take my aunt to her doctor today so that she could receive yet another shot in her back. When I woke up at just after 10 and noticed that I hadn't received a wake up call from her, I panicked. When I asked, she immediately started saying that her doctor had called and rescheduled to the following Monday.

Since mine and LaVaughn's day suddenly became clear, we decided it was time we take Una in for a check-up. She's been over-grooming herself lately it's starting to progress -- as is our worry. We've also been wanting to get her spayed for some time now, so I decided to see if that could be done tomorrow as well.

Long story short, we took her to the vet and left her. :( They're going to examine her today and do the surgery tomorrow, then we can pick her up Wednesday... WEDNESDAY!! That's two entire days without my baby!! I'm a mess right now and don't know what to do with myself. I'm so lost.

Since we saw a bald eagle on our drive to Fredericktown last week, I decided I would take the actual camera with me today. Sure enough, there was an eagle! LaVaughn (somehow) spotted the majestic bird from a football field away. Unfortunately, I don't have a telephoto lens, so it was extremely challenging to get a decent picture of the bird, but I was able to get some at least.

Nothing else really took place today, other than some shopping at the market... that's basically it. So now I'm going to wallow for a while and cry over my cat being gone. I honestly cannot wait until Wednesday...

I want to fly like and eagle...

Believe it or not, this post actually has something to do with an eagle! LaVaughn and I were headed to the next town over so that I could go to my 3:30 interview. Yes, I had an interview -- which I'll discuss at a later time. The route to the town we were going to is very scenic. Lots of tall trees, mountains and lakes! It's actually a very pretty drive. As we were driving along, being as silent as mice, LaVaughn looks out the window and points:

"Dude, I think that was an eagle!"

I replied, "Are you sure!?"

Still not 100% sure, I turned at the nearest road and headed back towards the stop that she pointed out. As we drove closer, sure enough -- an eagle! It looked so beautiful sitting up on the tree limb. My natural instincts kicked in and made me reach for the camera that was in the backseat. I had LaVaughn take the wheel while I rolled down my window and began shooting.

We were still too far away for me to get a decent photo, so I pulled up to the lake next to where the eagle was sitting. LaVaughn and I quickly made our way out of the car, and as close to the eagle as we could get without scaring the beautiful bird away! I nabbed quite a few pictures, then I handed the camera to LaVaughn. She caught several good photos - including an in flight photo!

Apparently this was a mated pair of eagles, because after one flew off of the branch, it caught the attention of a different eagle, causing them to both fly around. The other eagle ended up perching in nearly the same spot as the one before. So all of the photos are of not one, but two beautiful birds!
