Saying goodbye to your manhood...

I called last week and scheduled an appointment for Loras to be neutered. His mom's joey is OOP now and she'll most likely be going into heat soon, so he NEEDED to be neutered as soon as possible.

LaVaughn had a nail salon appointment at the same time as his neuter, so I dropped her off and went to the vet on my own. Not fun, LaVaughn, not fun. Luckily everything went well and he's doing just fine. Hopefully next week we can get Nubbins neutered!

In POP! news, our Box Lunch Exclusive Regina arrived today. I love her!! She's quickly becoming one of my most favorite POPS! and I have a lot of favorites. Now all we need is the Hook with both hands (and a replacement Hook) and we'll have the whole set! Aside from the Comic Con Regina, but she's $200, so no thanks.

I guess that's all for now. Just a quick update on the happenings. We're off to the vet with the girls tomorrow for a check up and lab work. Wish us luck!

Here are some pics from today:

And lastly, out Box Lunch Exclusive Regina!

Milla update!

So, I didn't blog about Milla at all yesterday, but that's because I was too busy/worried, so it didn't cross my mind.

Tuesday night Milla's leg swelled up even more, it continued to do this into Wednesday. Her entire leg started to swell after a while, even her poor little toes. This was like a hard swelling, like rock hard. After a while it started turning a deep red/purple color and looked awful. Even the back of her leg looked awful. Her flank started to swell last night, but it was retaining water, as was the back of her elbow area. So overall the swelling and coloration have gotten worse.

With that being said, her temperature has gone down to the 101 range, which is perfectly normal for a dog. She's also started eating more -- even canned food! After Tuesday, she started putting more pressure on her foot with each day. Today she's almost walking completely normal with just a slight limp.

I had to tell all of this to the vet today when I called. His reaction? "Well it's not what we were thinking, bring her on in and lets see if we can get some more fluid out of it." So off we went.

We were taken back nearly as soon as we walked in the door, which was such a huge relief. It didn't take him long to confirm Milla has "pitting edema", which most likely occurred from snake bite. He said to achieve bruising that severe, it would have to be from some type of bite or trauma. He even said that it almost has to be a bite, he just can't find the actual bite mark.

With that being said, Milla received a cortisone shot in the rump, an extra week of her two antibiotics and a weeks worth of a steroid/pain reliever combo. It was such a relief to hear him say that! Man, the stress and worry from the past few days was some how lifted in an instant. This drive home was much, much less tense than the drive home Monday.

In other news, I ran in Walmart to grab a few things on the way home while LaVaughn and Milla stayed in the car. While I was in there I saw a bunch of things on the clearance table, a few things in particular really stood out to me. One of those things being Jimmy Choo perfume for $10! I got two of those, two tubes of roll-on Flower perfume, some One Direction spray and some Aveeno face cream. I got ALL of that for under $35, can you believe it? I love when I'm able to find amazing bargains like that.

I guess that's all for now...

Dogs mysterious leg swelling...

So last night around 3:30 am when LaVaughn and I normally feed the cats and Milla, something went awry. When LaVaughn tried to get Milla to stand, she wouldn't! It was almost like she was paralyzed - it was absolutely terrifying! A panicked LaVaughn ran to the glider room where I was and told me. I quickly made my way to the living room where she was. After much coaxing, we were finally able to get Milla to the kitchen where we discovered she was favoring her right read leg. We were slightly relieved when we saw that she could walk on one of her legs and wasn't completely crippled.

Since Milla's on the hefty side, we just chalked it up to her pulling something and didn't think too much into it - she's stepped wrong before and hurt her leg, we figured it was something like that. We went to bed around 5 am and was up in a panic just after 7 am because Milla wouln't stand again. That's when we decided to head to the vet.

We got blankets down in the car and headed towards Fredericktown. I mentioned before we left the house that we should probably all before we go, just to be on the safe side. We stopped just at the start of C hwy and called. Just as I suspected, all of the vets were in surgery and the only opening they had was 3 pm. I called our other vet in Poplar Bluff and it was the same thing. The only difference is that they didn't have an opening slot and would have just had to work us in sometime after 1:30. We kept the guaranteed appointment and went back home.

We both went back to bed until just after noon, which I'm so grateful for.

It didn't take us long to make it to the vet and, of course, they were packed. Milla wasn't feeling good at all, so she slept almost the entire time in the waiting room, which is not her usual thing. We got Dr. Swinford and he recommended x-rays before anything. We were sent back to the waiting room while they took Milla to the back.

It was nearly 35 minutes before he came out and spoke to us. He told us that there was no breaks or fractures that he could see. I don't think I mentioned this, but her knee area was really swollen at this time. He aspirated some fluid from her leg and said that he honestly didn't know what it was. He said there were no white blood cells in it, which was odd. We was upfront with being unsure and recommended we take her to a specialist, She was also running a 105 degree temperature, which was super high. He ended up sending us home with two different antibiotics and some Metacam.

As of right now, her temperate has gone down to 102.6 -- it was 103 earlier, but it's gone back down. It actually went down some last night, which is amazing. She didn't feel well at all yesterday evening. She didn't eat her burgers from McDonald's, all she wanted to do was drink water and sleep. She wouldn't eat anything yesterday evening, but I did get her to eat some ham last night and super early this morning -- it's all she'll eat, so she's getting it.

She seems a little better today. Like I said, her temp is down, but her swelling isn't. The swelling got worse last night, which worries me. But, she does seem to feel better. I'm just hoping and praying that her antibiotics kick in soon and she's on the road to recovery. I have to call the vet tomorrow and give him an update. He's out today, which is why I can't call him today.

So there's that. Another hellish week of being on the brink of a nervous breakdown! Please keep Milla in your thoughts, prayers, meditations, or ANYthing that you do. It'll be much appreciated.

Milla at the vet yesterday:

This is her leg today:

Lets kick of Christmas Shopping 2015!

LaVaughn and I went on our first official Christmas shopping outing earlier today. No place special, just Fredericktown. We were going to go to Poplat Bluff, but ended up going with Fredericktown because we needed to pick up Pip's meds from the vet -- his teeth are in bad shape again.

We went by the vet first and got those, then headed to Walmart were we each got some of the CUTEST sweaters! LaVaughn totally snatched a hoodie that I wanted, but it wasn't in my size, so whatever. I realized what a terrible nerd I am today. Not only did I get some Avengers night pants, but I got a Jurassic Park shirt as well. So incredibly lame, I know. Those are gifts to each other, though, so no sharing pics or wearing until Christmas Eve, unfortunately.

We tried to look around for things for everyone else -- what a task that was! I have NO idea what to get anyone! All the people we're buying for are older and not into the latest tech gear. So it's usually shirts, bath sets, and something random and lame. We already ordered a few things online, but it's nothing compared to what we need. I'm still holding out for some awesome Black Friday finds -- only 15 days away!!

We stopped an grabbed some food after our excursion, then headed home.

Now, lets talk fleece! Out of all the fleece that we've had hoarded in the garage for months, we only have two separate sets left to sew! And to my surprise, no one is interested in them! Since today is Veterans Day, there have been all kinds of sales going on all week, including sales at Joann's. We've been hoarding 5 separate throws and 4 additional yards of lime green fleece for days now. Well last night I finally took the plunge and bought it! It was a pretty penny, but we should (hopefully) make it back out of just two sets.

Not an hour after the fleece from Joann's was bought and paid for, some lady tagged me in a post on Facebook about a fellow vendor selling ALL of her fleece! LaVaughn and I went nuts! We picked out two prints off the bat, then about 15 minutes later I found another that I wanted. After an hour passed, she posted a picture of the remaining fleece. Come to find out she had TWO more prints that we wanted! It was hard to pass up, especially considering she was selling everything at $2 a yard -- come on!

Our grand total came to... gulp, $52! That was the price shipped for nearly 14 yards of fleece. Not too bad I don't suppose, but damn! I'm selling 84 ft of lime green chain to Brittany for $20, so we only need to make $32 out of the fleece to pay for it. A lady that ordered a set from us last week messaged me last night and said that she wanted a set out of some of the fleece we got -- lets just hope she still wants it when it gets here!

So we should be rolling in the fleece in a week or so, I'm excited. There's also a really adorable fleece pattern at our local Walmart (yes they have fabric again) that I want to get. It's yellow and grey owls -- so adorable!

Well I guess I've rambled enough for now. It's time for coffee and Chicago PD!

Love & Peace

Pics from today:

Remember me posting these? Well we bought this before Halloween for the month of November.

See how awesome it turned out??

We picked up our first wax warmer today. Fun fun!

The scents were pretty amazing.

See how pretty!

Snuggle time with Norman:

He's from further off.

THE trio:

From my phone.

This is all the fleece we're getting from Gini. Amazing, isn't it? I'll post the stuff we got from Joann's when it arrives.

Hang in there, buddy...

Wow, today has been LONG! We had to take Fletcher to the vet today, as well as stop by the license bureau/DMV so that LaVaughn could renew her licence, AND grocery shop! We left the house around 1ish and made it to the DMV just after 2. Fletcher and I sat outside the entire time waiting on LaVaughn to finish up. We spent our spare time sniffing things, taking selfies and staring at the passers by.

After we finished up there, we went straight to the license bureau where we both proceeded inside. It was only going to take like 10 minutes, so I thought I would join her instead of sitting in the car. I honestly didn't think anything about Fletcher bothering anything, until I looked out the window, that is. What was he doing do you think? Well he had somehow teleported to the front seat and was switching back and forth between the drivers seat and the passengers seat.

I didn't even bother to tell her what I was doing, I just ran outside and across the street to the car. I managed to get him back in the backseat and checked the leather to make sure there was no punctures. Thankfully there wasn't! We had the entire backseat encased in blankets and sheets so that he couldn't puke in any of the nooks or tear the leather.

LaVaughn finished up in side before I even got a chance to clean the gum up off the seats. Yes, he had GUM on his feet and got it all over the front of the car! I wanted to scream.

We went on to the vet, even thought we were like 25 minutes early. They took him back proceeded to do their thing. I had to leave the room after they expressed his anal glands -- the smell, oh god! I went on to the front desk and bought our cats some Comfortis.

As soon as we finished up there, we went to the store and did some grocery shopping. We didn't go crazy this time, so it didn't take us as long as it normally would have. We grabbed a burger from none other than McDonald's and a Java Chiller from Sonic and then headed home.

Zoe, believe it or not, ate her Comfortis willingly. Una was extremely reluctant, so we had to shove her pill down her throat. Poor baby. Lets just hope this helps eradicate fleas and help with Una's skin condition.

And now all I want to do is try out all the new International Delight creamers that we got. So until next time...

Love & Peace

Pics from today, via mainly my phone:

There's like NO room for anything else in the fridge. It's sad how much creamer we have.

Norman, isn't he big?

Fletcher enjoying his ride to Fredericktown.

And now we're sniffing around the DMV.

Selfie time! I'm not one for posting pictures of myself, but this one was a keeper.

Fletcher getting the works at the vet. He's actually getting blood drawn here.

Comfortis for the cats!

These are all the new flavors we got today. Well, the sweet cream isn't new, but we were out.

He's excited to go home. And get his cheeseburger from McD's.

Love this one.

Like an idiot, when I was ordering cat food, treats, and litter from Walmart.com for pickup today, I accidentally ordered two things of Tidy Cats. There's really no going back once you get it.

Wasted days and wasted nights...

LaVaughn and I had to go to Fredericktown today so that she could stop by the DMV. I also wanted to go to Walmart and pick up some coffee creamer -- they don't have what I want here, so Fredericktown is the only place to get it. We also took Boone and Jeremy with us so that we could get them neutered if the vet had time.

Well to start things off, the DMV was closed today. Don't you think they could have mentioned that last Wed. when we were there and the last told us to come back THIS Wed.? I called and apparently they're having their annual troopers meeting. Completely ridiculous! This was the main reason we went in the first place!

While LaVaughn was trying to get in touch with someone, I called the vet and asked if they could squeeze in a couple neuters today. That was a big no! It was a long shot, but they're normally slow in the middle of the week.

We're super agitated at this point, so we decide to head over to Walmart to let off some steam. I get out of the car, fix my hair and reach in the backseat to get my purse... IT WASN'T THERE!! I left my damn purse at home! So I had no money and no ID!

We both said "Fuck this day, lets just go home!".

That's really all I had to share. I still can't believe we drove all the way to Fredericktown, got out at the DMV and drove back. A completely, 100% wasted trip. That is all...

Love & Peace

-Megan

These are the only pictures I took today:

Snow white...

We had to go back to Fredericktown again today, which prevailed to be a wasted trip. Now we get to go back next Wednesday... Fun! We had to stop by the store to grab some cat food and coffee creamers -- obsessed is putting it lightly at the moment. I'm still extremely pissed that they don't have the Almond Joey ones anymore. Major sad face.

As soon as we got home today we had to start making HPW. We ran out last night, so it was a have to type of thing. Since we got our new box of Wombaroo powder and 160 ounces of honey, we decided to make 8 batches of HPW. We even stopped by Dollar General and picked up a couple new containers especially for HPW. Unfortunately, they're not big enough and only hold 3 batches each. We were hoping they would hold 4, but it worked out better that way. Now we have 6 batches out in the deep freeze and 2 in the house. I'm very curious as to how long these will last -- I'm thinking until next months sometime?? Like nearing the end, maybe even November!

Before I forget about it, I'd like to talk about a couple items we got in the mail for the ratties yesterday. I was reading a girls post in one of the rat groups on Facebook and was moved by her cry for help. Her poor rat boy had a hernia that was spilling out into his testicles. Unfortunately the surgery was going to cost $600, which she didn't have. She was asking for donations and in return you got sewn items. Yes, we can sew our own rattie items, but I know first hand how it is to need a lot of money up front for rat surgeries. I ended up getting a rat cube ($12) and a little rat bed ($9). I sent her a little extra to help. It wasn't much, but I hope it was enough.

We got our adorable little cage set items in the mail yesterday while I was at work and they're adorable! The bed is s tad smaller than I thought it would be, but I'm sure it will suffice. I want to find some of the same material and make them a few more things to go with it.

Have I even mentioned that Chloe and Boone's little boy detached early yesterday morning?? Well he FINALLY did and weighed in at a whipping 19 grams! He's by far the biggest joey we've ever had here. He's also a big cry baby, but oh my god, he's SO cute!! He's also extremely pouch stained, which is another first for us. Chloe needs to not be so greedy next time. As of right now, we're calling him Norman.

Speaking of joeys, Wanda will be leaving us Friday. We're meeting Milli in Poplar Bluff to hand her over. It's going to kill me, I love her so. :( I don't think it will be half as bad parting with Pietro, though. Now THAT killed me.

Well I guess that's all for now. It's getting late and I'm getting a thirst for coffee. Until next time...

Love & Peace

-Megan
