Xbox 360 - still relevant?

I honestly don't remember if I blogged about this a lot, but my sister and I have been diehard fans of Left 4 Dead since the first one came out in late 2008. That was the same year I started this blog, so I'm sure I've mentioned it a time or two. We got our very first Xbox 360 in spring of 2007 and kept the same one until we got a PS4, which was early winter of 2014. We only had to send it in for repairs one time a few years after we got it, but other than that it's been really good.

After we got out PS4 we didn't really play the 360 that much, just once or twice when I wanted to play Splinter Cell or Survival Instinct. A couple months back I wanted to play L4D so bad that we got our old 360 out of storage and hooked it up. It was no surprise that it didn't turn on, even though it's in basically the same shape as it was the last time we played it. It could be something simple like a faulty power cord, or it could be the console itself. I mean, the disc tray jams and has to be forced open, plus the faceplate is missing entirely.

Nothing else was said about it up until a couple weeks ago when I started thinking of L4D again and wanting to play SO terribly bad. I started looking for used 360's on eBay and found several decent deals. A lot of them were just under $100 and a few over, but I already knew I didn't even want to pay close to that. After searching for days, I finally found one that wasn't ridiculously priced (under $60) and placed an offer. The guy countered for $4 less than the original listing price, so I countered again and he finally accepted.

If he had shipped it out the day after I paid, we could've gotten it Saturday and had it Monday when we got back from work, but he took a while to ship it out and we just got it yesterday. It sucks, but it's whatever. We made up for lost time yesterday by playing for nearly 8 hours. I can't express how happy I am that we have a functioning 360 again. There is SO much nostalgia involved, it's amazing. Even though L4D and L4D2 are 12 and 13 years old, they're still so amazing to play.

I was hoping that the graphics wouldn't be a major letdown, considering we've been playing PS4 games for 7 years, but it really wasn't an issue. It's just as fun as it was 13 years ago.

So let me ask, does anyone still use their Xbox 360? I know it's all the rage to buy the newest and best console, but I find so much joy in playing old games that are near and dear to my heart. Games that make me happy and sad at the same time because they take me back to a time that I loved so dearly, a time that I miss so much.

Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with new consoles. I mean, I would love to have a PS5, but I'm not gonna go crazy trying to find one and paying scalpers $1500 for something that costs less than $500. I'll be perfectly content playing PS4 games until they stop making them.

I guess that's all for now. I'm going to share completely unrelated gaming photos below, which should come as no surprise.

This is the other guy.

Strawberry blooms!

These are some of the orange cherry tomatoes.

I can't wait to eat them.

I think this is a big guy.

And lastly, our giant hostas.

I didn't mean to be obscene...

You ever have one of those days where you just desperately want to break out the old games and give them a go? That was me today. All I had on my mind from the time I got up was Splinter Cell. It's been close to a year since I've played Splinter Cell, if not longer, so it's time. Normally there would be a new one out by now, but there isn't. And unfortunately for me, there are no such games on the PS4.

After I talked myself into it, I dug the 360 out of the closet, cleaned it up and was ready to play. My game playing was short lived when I got everything ready to go and then got creeped out by how old and creepy Double Agent was. I wasn't even in the mood after that, so I decided to not even try.

While I had it out, LaVaughn and I decided to given Frozen a try. We made it about 20 minutes into the movie before we turned it off. It's cute and all, but there's just SO much singing!

In between all of this, I managed to take a million pictures of the cats. The windows/curtains were open, so there was all kinds of natural light shining in, so it made sense to do it at the time. That's mainly what this post is about, an obscene amount of cat pictures. Hope you all enjoy!

Prepare for an overload of cat pictures!

Check out those whiskers!

Her whiskers are just... wow!

Our poor Xbox is so shot, lol.

The Splinter Cell trio

This is such a sweet picture of the girls. You would have no idea that they would attack each other immediately after.

Head scratches are the best!

Even Una approves.

Just one of those weeks...

Yesterday was a blur, this whole week has been. I honestly can't even think of a word to describe it other than, abysmal. Seriously, as soon as Monday rolled around I kept thinking to myself, "I cannot wait until Friday, or Sunday." Now that Friday is here, I'm kind of ready to go back to Monday -- even though I wouldn't want to relive this week again.

The roofer has been here every single day this week, hammering, knocking, scraping. I haven't slept past 11 one day this week, which is a rarity for me. I feel physically exhausted, like I'm dragging myself from place to place. Tomorrow is going to be miserable. And to top my 9 hour work day off tomorrow, the roofer will be here... yet again! Come on man, don't you want to like, party it up this weekend?

Last night was probably the worst I've slept in quite some time. I ended up going to bed just after 4 AM, then tossed and turned until almost 6. I finally had to get up and sleep in a different room. I just could NOT sleep! It didn't help that I had an anxiety attack and felt anxious all morning. Luckily, after I went to a different room, I was able to fall asleep just after 6.

To top off this horribly stressful week, we lost one of our Buttercup hens, Tina. She's the one that lost her eye during the second dog tack. She came out unscathed the first time, but ended up getting hurt pretty bad the second time around. She also survived a raccoon attack that ended up taking the lives of our 3 welshies, Audrey, and nearly killed Harley. She was a trooper and will be greatly missed.

Speaking of chicks, I kind of want to hatch out some more chicks before the summer is over. Our turkey, Lilith, is very broody at the moment, so it's kind of the perfect time. I'm thinking of maybe trying to hatch out like 8 chicks. I'll probably leave 12 eggs under her and hope for the best. She's a big girl, so she'll probably end up cracking a few. I guess we'll see how I feel about it next week.

LaVaughn and I sewed for the first time today in nearly 6 months! After that whole Jacqueline nightmare, we just got out of it. The set actually turned out great! It's a pink/yellow flower pattern that we paired with a pink and a yellow solid -- so cute!! I hope the lady that gets it likes it as much as we do. But, she said she wanted pink and yellow solid, so I don't think she'll object. I think we may have enough left over to do another set, but I'm not sure if we're using it for the rats or not.

I'm being a complete baby when it comes to this, but I so desperately want a Playstation 4. Since LaVaughn and I got our 360 back in 2007, we've swore by them. We used to swear by Playstation, but quickly threw them to the curb in just a short time of having the 360. Upon further investigation of PS4s and Xbox Ones, we've decided that a PS4 would be a better investment. The only game series exclusive to Xbox One is Left 4 Dead, and who in the hell knows if they'll even make a 3? Of course, they have more exclusive game series, like Halo, but we don't play that, so it's all good.

Now PS4 on the other hand, they have a LOT of exclusive games that I would LOVE to play! Like Uncharted, The Last of Us (which will be made for PS4), Far Cry, and God of War. Come on, how could we not want a PS4? Now if only we had the money, lol. It' snot easy to drop $400 on a gaming system.

We came so, so close to buying one last night. Like in the store, gaming system in hand close. Then we realized that after buying that and a game (Watch Dogs), that it would end up being over $500. Yeah, not so much. We found a gaming system online for $360, which will save us about $70, so I think that's the way to go.

Now, to top off this awesomely execrable week, I have acid reflux that's close to a level 10 on the pain scale. It feels like I constantly have fire coming up in my throat. Ugh, I cannot wait until next week.

Love & Peace

And now to top off this creepy week/creepy blog, here are some weirdly random pictures from the past couple days:
