RIP Evan...

I can't believe I'm posting this just a few days after Jonah. Our other rat, Evan, passed away yesterday. It was awful! After his brother passed away a few days ago, he stopped eating, drinking and just slipped into a horribly depressive state. When knew he wasn't going to make it much longer and he didn't.

I seriously don't believe I want any more rats. They're such compassionate animals that you get attached to way too easily. And I just can't deal with their short lifespan. Although, Evan and Jonah both lived extremely long lives and for that, I'm grateful.

We will always remember you buddy...
RIP Evan

RIP little man...

I'm very sad to announce that our rat, Jonah, passed away just a little bit ago. I knew he was getting old - he was nearly 2 1/2,  but it was still too soon. Considering Evan & Jonah were our first rats, this is the first time we've had to loose one and it hurts.

I know people frown upon rats as pets, but, to me, they make better pets than nearly any other caged animal. Jonah will always hold a special place in my heart and he will never be forgotton. I love you buddy...

RIP Jonah

Sewing for fun with a little scenery on the side...

Today was actually a pretty good day. I woke up in a good mood instead of being depressed, the sun was out and it was just an all around good day. It's a great change compared to all the horrid days this month. I swear, it's just been one of those, "I want to kill myself." type of months.

On a happier note, since we really had nothing to do today, we decided that we would make some things for the rats. They've chewed through almost every hammock we've given them, so they definitely needed a new one.

Aside from the things we made for the rats, I also managed to get some pretty decent scenic pictures today. I've needed to stretch my photography legs for weeks now. And with all the flowers in bloom, it's been fairly easy.

Well, I suppose that's all for now. Hope you enjoy the many, many photos below...

Song of the day: Don't Cry by Guns N' Roses

Here are the pics:

If you're wondering what this is, it's the cord that goes to my laptop. For some reason, my other one stopped working and LaVaughn's old one hasn't worked for months. And if you remember, our puppy, Mischa, chewed through my original corn over a year ago and we had to by this one. Anyway, we split two of the cords, part of my original and part of the new one. The conclusion: a nice, new working cord!

Caterpillar!

These little black and yellow caterpillars/worms are so cute!

Carly, being the whore that she is, lol. At least she's cute and can get away with it.

A cardinal in the tree.

Another cardinal.

Notice anything different about Esther? Well, I know you can't see it really well, but she's pregnant!! I've kept this a secret for some time now. It's seriously only a matter of days before she pops.

Our beautiful green yard.

Some pretty dandelions.

Dandelions line the sidewalk at our place.

Such a pretty sight.

I love using the macro on dandelions.

Susie, being a flirt.

Some pretty off white tulips.

Not the best view, but still kind of pretty.

Tall tulips, lol.

Yup...

Even more tulips, lol.

Hey! There's a bug in that tulip!

This is the rat cube that I made for Evan and Jonah. This actually turned out to be a better ferret cube, so now Robbie has a new cube, lol.

The triple hammock LaVaughn made for the rats.

And the long hammock LaVaughn made for the rats. She sewed all this in the time it took me to make one cube. It was seriously huge!

I think this is becoming a passion, whether I like it or not...

It's becoming easier and easier for me to pick something up and sew it. Like today for example, I roughly cut out two rectangles of fleece, made four tabs and sewed up a hammock for the rats in no more than 5 minutes. I'm not bragging at all. Believe me, it didn't look perfect, but the fact that I did it so fast without even thinking is leading me to believe that I have a new skill that I can actually call my own.

Sewing isn't something that I ever thought I would do. Watching my aunt sew years ago used to confuse the shit out of me, but it's something I look forward to nowadays. Call me crazy, but I would rather sew than go to the bar and get shitfaced. Is that normal for someone my age? Didn't think so. It's official, I need to go stab and/or shoot someone. Maybe I'll just punch a wall?

Okay, I believe I'm done with my rant/speech. Time for the pictures and time for me to go destroy something...

Evan & Jonah's new hammock:

You may be asking yourself why I made our two male rats a pink and red hammock with hearts. And to answer that... they'll have it destroyed in a week, if not sooner. LaVaughn and I both just use whatever fleece we have on hand for the rats because they go through hammocks SO fast. :O)

End of the week fish fry...

Hey again. Just got home from my aunts where we had a nice little fish fry. It wasn't like a huge gathering of the Gods or anything, just us 3 and some fried fish, lol. Technically, it was still a fish fry. Anyway, that's what we did and we're home now.

In gliders news... Kira's joey are getting huge! I still think they'll be OOP at the beginning of March, at least, that's what I'm hoping. I really, really hope she has a gorgeous little girl (or boy) so that we can keep it. We would keep Deagol, but he's practically already sold. So yeah, that's what's going on there.

Well, I suppose that's all for now. Don't forget to check out the pictures below. Until next time, you know where to find me...

Movie of the day: Underworld

Here are some pictures from last night/early this morning:

If you're wondering what all of those little red things are, they're straws. They came in one of the toys we got from the swap last week.

Notice Logan's guilty face in the upper left hand corner. You know he's the culprit, lol.

This is where the straws normally belong.

"It wasn't me, I promise!"

Pip in his coconut forager. Super duper cute!

Evan trying to chew his way out of the cage.

Evan saying, "Please mom, let me out!"

Look at Evan's pretty little rat nose. <3

Jonah seeing what's going on at the bottom of the cage.

Jonah's pretty little rat nose.

Jonah again, being his cute self. <3

The next few photos are of Deagol and were all taken by LaVaughn:

"Mmm, I love yoggies!"

"Hey, give me more yoggies!"

"What, you're out of yoggies?"

"But I love them..."

Milla being tied outside while we went to our aunts' house.

Viscous German Shepherd! She was actually sneezing here, she just looks demonic.

Sniffing the grass.

Some hush puppies I made from scratch... from scratch!

And lastly, my beyond awesome purple Converse. My aunt picked these up for me for $1 I believe. Yes, I said $1! They're a tad on the dirty side now, but I do wear them a lot. They're awesome...

Wasps like honey... who knew!

Hey peeps, not too much going on today, just had to sew up a couple cage sets that we're swapping for toys (can't wait!). Aside from that, not much, lol. It seems like there was a movie that I wanted to talk about, but I can't remember what it was. Did I already discuss Dream House? I believe I did. Maybe it will come to me.

But, until then, you know where to find me...

Song of the day: Runaway by Bon Jovi

Here are the pics:

Our ratties, Evan & Jonah.

Look at that long rat snoot!

Little rat hands.

This is the first cage set we made. It's blue and black anti-pill fleece.

This is the second one. This is all microfleece.

Dark side of the moon anyone?

And we will finish off the photos with Jonah and Evan's rat snacks!

And now for the Wasp that I mentioned in the title. Oh, did I forget to add that it's a video?
