I just wanna go to the rooftops and shout!

I can barely contain my excitement... wanna know why!? Chloe and Boone's cage arrived today!! I'm SO happy! We're so close to upgrading to all HQ cages. We only need 2 more and then we're done.. for now. Now we just need to get it set up and we're good to go!

Also, the frog set that we sewed yesterday sold today. The chick that wanted it ended up wanting two more sets from us, rock and roll! We took that as a sign to buy those bags that we wanted. We decided to order them from Walmart.com and use our PayPal money so that we didn't have to drop that much on hand money. Well for some stupid reason, we could only order one! We got some error saying that they wouldn't be back in stock until next week. So unless someone came in and bought all 8 bags that they had, they're just being stupid. So now we're going to have to BUY one. Sucks.

Aside from that, I did something that I haven't done in a long time... recorded video of the joeys! And believe it or not, I got it uploaded to Youtube! I used to record video all the time, but stopped for some reason.

Speaking of, LaVaughn has seen Jensen in a new light and now wants to keep him. Like no joke, she said she seriously 100% wants to keep him. At first I thought she was just saying it, considering we say we want to keep all our joeys at least ones. So I guess he'll be staying here, lol. He'll also be renamed to Seamus. Pretty cute, eh?

And now I get to talk about depressing things, like having to go to work tomorrow and work 9 freaking hours! Someone please kill me! Not really, of course, but I would appreciate if someone gave me a new job. Since I work until 10, I'll have to close the damn lobby, like always. This is why I want out at 9.

Okay, I suppose that's all for now. Until next time...

Love & Peace

Goodbye cruel world...

Well today was the unbelievably nerving day of Pip's neuter. LaVaughn and I have been a wreck ever since I called yesterday. And, of course, we have been expecting the worst!

We got there and got called straight back. The vet, who's seriously awesome, explained the procedure to us and said that it seems very easy and should go very well. That lifted out spirits a little and allowed us to breath easier for a little while... then she took him. :(

We got lots of online support yesterday from all the lovely people in the glider community. We asked a million questions about pom on and pom off neuters. Our vet was planing a pom off, so that's what we were concerned about. But still, several people assured us that pom off neuters were just as safe as pom on. We got SO much support and information from Val, a glider illness guru, she really helped.

We waited in the exam room for about 15-20 minutes, then it was over. She came out with him all balled up in his pouch and he seemed the same as when he left. She kept him in the back there while he was waking up and let him gnaw on the apple that we brought. That is the scariest part of having a glider sedated! But all was well. Pip was a great little boy during the whole process and even snacked on some yoggies after. He even jumped out on us and hopped back and forth for a while. This really amused people, lol.

So now were home and happy as can be. Not only do we have our first neuter out of the way, but we're down a breeding pair! Yay!!

I know this is kind of off subject, but we saw loads of wildlife on the way home. We saw about 10 wild turkeys, a couple deer, and a turtle Good stuff, lol.

Until next time...

Love & Peace

Sugar glider vet trip...

Well, we had our first big glider scare Monday morning. Just before 5 AM, LaVaughn and I both heard scratching on the wall in the glider room. We both knew then that one of the gliders were out. Well, our conclusions were right, Sadie and Pip were both having a field day hopping from cage to cage.

It wasn't until after we caught them and put them back in their cage that I noticed that something wasn't right with Kira's face. All I could see was a reddish fleshy piece hanging from her face. At first glance, I thought it was her tongue!!

My heart sank.

I quickly grabbed her out of the cage and put her into a pouch. I was trying so hard to get some mealies out of our container, but my hands were literally shaking uncontrollably! After I gave her one and she settled down a bit, we were able to see that it wasn't her tongue! Then we saw that it was her bottom lip. The right side was completely split!

She shoveled in the mealies and acted like nothing was wrong, so we put her back in her cage to see how she's do. She automatically started running around and scenting the bars like nothing had happened to her. After that, we decided that it wasn't worth an emergency visit and decided to just call the vet that morning and make an appointment.

Unfortunately, the soonest they could get her in was 3:00 on Wednesday!

You can imagine how nerved up I was at work Tuesday. I was home all day Monday, so I was able to constantly check on her - mainly aggravate her - and make sure she was alright. LaVaughn was with her Tuesday, but I was only scheduled for 4 hours that day, so I didn't get a break or a chance to call. That's probably because I had to work 1 1/2 hours over. Fun!

Well, we made it to the vet today, xanex in hand. Not really of course, but man that was a long and unnerving drive! We were called back not 5 minutes after we got there. The vet was SO nice! Kira was the first glider she had in her office, but you would never know that. She handled her like a pro and was very gentile! The vet tech was amazed, she had never even heard of a sugar glider before. And come to find out, the vet tech lives not 5 miles away from us. Small world!

After she analyzed Kira's face, she gave us three options:

1) Put her on a anti-inflammatory and antibiotic and see if the swelling goes down enough to where she can sew it back on. She also thought that might give her enough time for her baby to come OOP, but that was going to be weeks still.

2) Try to put a local anesthetic in the spot and try to clip it off. But she was a little hesitant to do that, because she was afraid Kira wouldn't hold still long enough to get the bleeding stopped if it started.

3) Give her a little anesthesia and take care of it that way.

We both wanted number 3. It was too risky sending her home with that piece still there. She was already having a hard time eating, so we definitely didn't want to leave it. The only reason she didn't want to use gas on her was because she was going to have to put her whole body in the thing (whatever it was) and she was afraid she would knock her baby out too. That's when she decided to go get an attachment that she uses on rats. And luckily, it fit! It wasn't long after that, that she took her. :(

The next 10-15 minutes were not fun and did not go by fast.

She brought her out and told us that she was trying to go at her self and that we needed to keep her occupied. I starting freaking out and shaking, all the while trying to get a worm out of the container and feed it too her. Kira was SO out of it, she missed the worm and leached onto my finger with her hands. And she gripped tight! I just knew I was going to get bit, but I didn't. It only took a couple minutes and about 15 worms for her to wake up and act like herself again. But man was it scary!!

After that, the vet called one of the consult vets that we gave her and got her fixed up on a couple meds. She's on a anti-inflammatory and antibiotic. And can you guess what the cost of this was... only $63! I couldn't believe it! This vet it just beyond awesome! We definitely have a new glider vet to go to!

Okay, well I believe that's all for now. Time to go give Kira some more loves. Until next time...

Love & Peace

Sweet & Sour or Sesame?

LaVaughn and I had dinner at the local Chinese restaurant with our aunt earlier today. It's the first time we've ate there and the place has been there for years!! When we lived in Perryville, we ate at China Garden all the time. It's nice to know that there's another awesome place to eat at in town. No more McDonald's or Sonic!

You remember me telling you about the stray cat that showed up? Well she's still here. I figured she would have gone her separate way by now, but she hasn't. I suppose us feeding her isn't making matters any better.

We took Hadley over to our aunts for a little while today after we ate. She loves holding the joeys. Mostly when they're a couple weeks old or younger. She doesn't like how fast the older ones can go. It's actually pretty comical to watch her with them. :)

Our poor little chick still isn't doing very well. She's eating pretty good, but can't really walk. It's so sad, there's nothing we can do for her except make her as comfortable as possible. Makes me sad. :(

I only have one more day off before I have to go back to work. I have to work 3 days in a row, which is weird! I usually work a day, then have a day off, then work 2 or 3 days. It's weird. Oh well.

Before I go, I would like to boast about Dead Island Riptide and the fact that I beat it!!! Woop woop! I've been playing it religiously lately, so it didn't take too long to beat it. I'm in the process of going back through it now and maxing out my stuff.

Okay, well I definitely think it's time for this terribly boring blog to come to and end. Wouldn't you agree?

Love & Peace

LaVaughn also took all of these.

And now for a video!!

Now what was I doing?

Today was such a random day. It wasn't as cold as it was yesterday, but it was still chilly. When I first woke up, it was kind of rainy, so there wasn't too much awesomeness going on outside until late in the evening. We had a couple indoor things to finish before we went outside anyway.

Like sewing, for example. LaVaughn managed to sew the majority of Taylor's set up -- even corner hammocks -- Friday while I was at work. So when I had to sew today, I only had to sew 4 pouches and 3 vines. You rock, LaVaughn! I can't wait for Taylor to get her sets. They actually turned out really nice! The set for her quad cage has a bridge that's 3.5 feet long!! O.o

After that was finished, LaVaughn took the dog for a walk around the yard and I harassed the ducks. Fun! We also both took a million pictures of yard life. Like streams, flowers, and bugs - oh my! Don't forget to catch all that awesomeness below!

Work was okay yesterday. When I got there, I had my first, "I hate this place, I want to quit!" moments. Yeah, fun! The only reason that happened was because people had me running all over as soon as I got there. And not to mention, it was cold and raining. And, of course, I had to take a couple orders outside. After the lunch rush, things got better and mellowed out. One of the managers even let me go 45 minutes early! I hated missing out on the pay, but my head was killing me do I wasn't going to complain.

Thankfully, my tooth didn't give me too much trouble. It's still numb, so the weird feeling bugged me. At least it's not hurting.

My aunt was in a sharing mood yesterday and took me and LaVaughn out for dinner. We didn't have like a sit down dinner, we just went to Sonic. We all wanted to try a new shake, so we did! LaVaughn and I got oreo cheesecake and my aunt got strawberry cheesecake. Word of advice... never buy large! They're HUGE!

Lets see... what else did I need to talk about. Oh yeah!! Sadie and Pip's joey is about to detach!! She's letting the little one hang out every day now. And... I got to see what she's having.. a WF girl!! Okay, way too many exclamation points, lol. I can't help but be excited, though. It's been so long since she's had a baby. And not to mention, we've been worried sick that she might cannibalize it! It's seriously only a matter of days before she detaches and we get to hold her. :)

I honestly can't think of anything else to write about right now. It's been a struggle the past couple days, so it came as no surprise that today would be like that as well. Alrighty, I suppose that's all...

Love & Peace

My uncle's new iPhone cover that LaVaughn and I found for him. It's a tire tread!

And here's my aunt's iPhone cover. We thought she would like it. Not too girly, not too butch!

Here's Taylor's rather large cage set!

And here's the smaller one.

Both of them fit nicely inside this box. :)
