Bleed it out...

Since I've had a very strenuous couple days at work -- and one tomorrow --  I thought I would relax a little while with a nice, long blog. It's long overdue and I have a lot to talk about.

First up, do you remember the girl that adopted Hadley and Kyro? The one that was going to get Avon and Charli? We long story short, she got Hadley and Kyro and did great with them for months! Well, as her college days grew close, she became more and more distant with those two. Neglecting to post about them, show me new pictures and so on.

Well out of the blue a couple weeks ago, she messages me and tells me that Kyro died! I was at work at the time, so I couldn't fully grasp what she was telling me. I felt distraught. I messaged LaVaughn and told her -- she was equally as shocked.

When I got home I was able to discuss things with her. Another long story short, she wanted us to take Hadley back, which we had no problems doing. The only bad thing was that she was in upstate Missouri, like all the way above Jeff City, so we had no way of getting her. We went back and forth for a week trying to figure out how to get her to us.

LaVaughn and I are good friends with a guy in STL named, Kyan. We've talked to him for as long as I can remember and he's crazy about his gliders. I ended up asking him if he wanted Hadley. He said he wasn't sure if he could do, then the next thing I know he and Kelsey are meeting up the next day. I was ecstatic!

Kyan got her and put her in a massive Madagascar cage with her own wheel, loads of food, and a nice clean cage set. He said that she was super small and stunk horribly. This depressed me a great deal.

A couple days went by and I get this frantic message from Kyan saying that he needed to talk to me. I quickly responded to his message, all the while thinking the worst about Hadley. You know what he had to say?

"Hadley isn't a girl, this is a boy."

So all this time, he's had Kyro!! So poor little Hadley died and Kelsey didn't even know which one it was!! I mean, how do you not know your gliders? Even when LaVaughn and I have a busy week, or even a busy month we still know who is who! I was completely beside myself with disbelief. I haven't brought it up to Kelsey and I don't plan to anytime soon. I'm just happy Kyro is in a good home where he's loved (like you wouldn't believe) and cared for.

In other joey news, I had been posting and bumping Filie's ads to no avail. We had two people moderately interested in him, but something would always come up. Like he wasn't het for anything, or they were still trying to figure things out. Tracy messaged us off and on about him, commenting on how pretty he was, or just asking if he had a home. We knew she wanted him, but she didn't want to say so. She had planned on getting him in the beginning, but decided she didn't need to add to her brood, so she decided against it.

Well, she messaged us a couple nights ago and said that if he doesn't have a home by Sunday, she wants him. I told her there was no since in waiting and that he was hers. So... he's going to be living with Tracy (and his 3 older sister) at the end of the month.

I actually just ordered two shipping crates and two kritter keepers a little while ago from Petsmart. Wanna guess how much?? Only $42 for all of it! I found a discount code that gave us 20% off and free shipping. It was a steal!

All of the kittens are getting so big -- and looking so much better! They're all eating well, using the litter box, social, playful... it's almost time for them to go. I took their pictures today, so I guess it's time to start advertising. I'm a freak when it comes to trying to get rid of kittens, so I'm sure I'll have a difficult time finding them all homes. I know people have to think I'm weird when I ask them questions. Oh well, it's just the way I am.

See, I said I had a lot to say today, but this seems like a fairly short blog... interesting. Well, I suppose I should end it here then.

It's a bittersweet symphony...

Today was such a sad day. Today we said goodbye to two of our babies, Haldey and Kyro. It's days like this that make me want stop breeding entirely. I know that sounds selfish, but it seems like letting joeys go is getting harder and harder. When I went to take Hadley and Kyro out of the pouch where they were snuggled up with their parents, I lost it. I started crying like a little girl and then finished by apologizing for taking Sadie and Pip's babies away from them. Ugh.

Then, since my nose was so stuffed up, I started mildly choking and couldn't breath.

By the time we made it to Farmington, I told LaVaughn I had to stop and get a coffee for my throat. It was so dry and scratchy, I couldn't hardly swallow! McDonald's was the closest, so we decided to pull in there. Big mistake, by the way. It ended up taking over 5 minutes just to get a coffee. I honestly have no idea why they call their coffee "premium", because it sucks.

Anyways, we left Farmington around 3:00 and ended up making it to Festus by 3:30. And to think, we were worried that we would be late! It was just the opposite, actually. When I text Kelsey to tell her we were there, she told me they were running behind and would be there around 4:30! Go figure.

We were parked in front of a Joann fabric store -- which was where we planned on meeting her -- which ended up being right next door to a Petsmart! Good call on our end! After we fed everyone a few treats, we decided to head inside to blow the remaining 45 minutes.

I thought Petsway was expensive, but this place takes the cake! Everything they had was 20% higher than it should have been. Minus a couple things, like canned cat food, which we bought. We also bought Milla one of those Crazy Critters toys, the fox one (what would the fox say?). She had one a couple years ago that we picked up the last time we went to Arkansas, but something happened to it. Anyway, that thing and 4 cans of cat food ended up being $13! See what I'm saying?

Anyways, Kelsey showed up not long after that, then we handed the babies over to her. It was bittersweet, but the excitement she expressed when she laid eyes on them and held them for the first time made me smile and not think about the fact that I was actually handing over two of my babies to a complete stranger. Well, I can't really call her a stranger, considering I've been talking to her for 11 months.

She and her dad were both super nice and stayed and talked for a while. It was still sad, but I have a good feeling about her and think she's going to be a great glider mama.

After we said our goodbyes, we headed over to Joann's. Probably not a good idea, considering we're both a tad obsessed with fleece, lol. We ended up getting 8 yards of fabric before we left. We got 6 yards of fleece and 2 yards of flannel. Yup, we're going to give flannel a try. SUPER nervous bout that, but if it turns out the way we want it to, it's going to look awesome!

My conclusion about Joann's... it's awesome!! It's so sad, but I can't wait to go back, lol. Hopefully their blizzard fleece will be on sale the next time we make our way to Festus.

After we nabbed some food from Captain D's, we headed home. All in all, it was a pretty good day. Sad, but good. Kelsey has already emailed us, so I think it's safe to say she'll stay in touch. Until next time...

Hadley and Kyro munching on some yoggies:

Are they not the cutest?

Petsmart!!

This cat reminds me so much of Zoe! I wanted to take it home.

This little lady was a tad on the upset side.

But man was she pretty!

So many fish!

Milla's new Crazy Critters fox toy.

$20 antlers... no thanks.

It's a bird... no, it's a plane. Actually, it's a helicopter.

Our loot from Joann's. I'll post more detailed pictures later. ;)

It's that time of year again...

Time for everything that we know and love about winter to welcome itself with a big, fat slap to my face. Wanna know what I'm talking about? I'm sure you've guessed it by now... a COLD! I thought I might luck out and, I don't know, maybe NOT get sick this winter. Woe is me...

It all started last night at work. Around 6ish, I started getting this weird feeling in my throat. You know that oncoming feeling of a sore throat? The tiny, scratchy tickle. It's hard to explain, obviously, but I had it. I was thinking to myself, "Of course I'm going to get sick on my last day."

Luckily, I got out early (a little after 7) and was able to make my way to the store for some cold meds. I took a couple as soon as I got in the car, but I don't believe it did much good, considering I still ended up developing a full fledged sore throat. I did read online about downing a vinegar/water mixture that everyone swore by. It's a nasty little concoction that has to be taken every 30 minutes! But you know what, it actually helped! It sure didn't help the upset stomach that I got afterwords.

Anyway, lets just hope this cold doesn't last as long as the last one I had.

Considering I felt like crap today, I didn't want to do anything! LaVaughn and I are behind on two fairly large cage set orders, so I had to force myself to do a little something. By the time I was done, I felt like I was going to fall over from exhaustion. I'm serious, I'm that weak! I was worse last night, so lets hope I'm partially on the mend.

Other than that I did absolutely nothing today! I've sat on the couch, sulking. I just hope I'm better tomorrow. We have to take Hadley and Kyro to meet their new mom in Festus. I am so not looking forward to this. I mean, I'm happy and excited for her, but I'm going to miss them so much, it's not even cool.

Alright, I believe I've exerted myself enough for one day. Until next time...

The cage sets we cut today. We so outdid ourselves...

Oh no I didn't!

Is it just me, or does it seem like a week has passed since my last blog? Seriously, I know it's only been two days, but it seems like the longest two days known to man! I guess cause my work days were so long? I did a 9 hour shift, followed by an 8 hour shift. Hmm... makes you wonder.

Well, a LOT has gone on in the past 24 hours. Let me start with the most upsetting... leaving my wallet at work!!

Okay, it was getting late last night -- I believe it was 8:30 or so -- so I asked if I could leave early. Andrea happily obliged and said I could go. I quickly scurried out to the car and grabbed the wallet. I came back inside, ordered my crew meal, ordered my sister some food, and then continued to the back to make what I had just ordered. Yes, I like to make my own food while I'm there.

On my way to the back, I noticed that I still had the wallet tucked in my arm. I sat it down next to Andrea and asked if she would watch it for me. At the time, I had sit it in a spot where I could see it as well, but Andrea said she would sit it up by her phone so she could keep a closer eye on it. Nice, right? Anyways, I continued to make our food, finished up, grabbed a soda, and then headed out the door.

I made it home around 9:30ish and didn't think anything else about it. At first, I thought I had put the wallet inside our food bag, but I didn't. Well, around midnight last night, I decided to look through everything and see how much Christmas money we had put back. I know, it was freaking stupid to put our Christmas money in such a dangerous place, but I keep the wallet glued to my side when I go anywhere! Anyway, I looked all over the house and couldn't find it. I went to the car, same thing. Then, as I was walking back to the house, I remembered!

I came inside, almost in tears and told LaVaughn what I had done. She was so upset, she almost cried as well. I've NEVER left the wallet before, never! And of all times, we have over $400 in it! I was distraught!

I tried to call the store, but there was no one there. That's when I thought to messaged the manager, Andrea, on Facebook. Luckily, she was online and assured me that she put the wallet up and that it was in a safe place. It was somewhat of a relief, but I was still shaken up over it and so worried that someone had stole money out of it or would! That's when LaVaughn and I concocted the plan to drive up there around 3:30 and meet the openers.

So that's what we did! Luckily, it was Lynn, Garland, and Ryon (yes, it's spelled on). Lynn motioned for me to go to the back of the store so that I could get in. And THANK GOD, it was there and every bit of money was in it! You have no idea how happy we were on the drive home, lol.

Okay, now lets fast forward to just a little while ago!

Today was Kyro's neuter day. We had an appointment for 3:30, so we headed out a little after 2. We stopped by McDonald's and got some "apple dippers" (they're just apple slices) because the vet always likes to have a chunk of apple for them to bite one when they wake up.

To make a long story short, his neuter went great and he doesn't even seem to notice! We put him back in with his parents and sister and all seems to be fine (knock wood). Now we just have to gear up for Thurs. NOT looking forward to that!

After we left the vet's office, we headed over to old faithful for a little holiday shopping. It was SO nice to pick out a few gifts! I say a few, but we ended up spending quite a bit. The main reason for that was due to one very awesome, very pricey, item. I can't mention any of the gifts here, because 3 out of 4 people that we shopped for today read this blog occasionally.

After we get a few more items, it'll be time to buy the wrapping paper!! I'm not usually a big holiday fan, but I cannot wait for this Christmas!

Okay, I suppose that's all for now. Until next time...

LONG overdue picture of the rats. And yes, all 4 of them are in the square hammock, lol.

Little Kyro before his neuter:

Kyro after his neuter:

He was a sleepy little boy for a while. :(

Attack of the Ladybugs!!

If they ever wanted to film a movie titled, "Attack of the Ladybugs", they could so do it at our house. And the thing is, I don't know how the bastards are getting in! Since it gets so cold here during the winter months, we always make sure to reinforce our windows -- which we've done -- so I honestly have no idea how the bastards are getting in!

I thought we get rid of them all yesterday and the day before, but boy was I wrong. Nothing kills them, nothing. I don't like spraying anything harsh like bug spray, considering we have a house full of animals, so anything we spray has to be semi-natural. The only type of spray that works is our Glade Hawaiian Breeze air fresh. I hate being to crude, but it's fascinating how it stops them mid flight. I don't know why I feel bad, it's not like it kills them!

I must admit, I take pleasure in sucking them up with the vacuum. I know, something like that shouldn't appease me, but it does.

Now lets move on to sewing. Finally today was a productive day and we managed to sew! Not one set, but two! Both sets that needed to be sewn were sewn! I couldn't be happier abut it! Now comes the mood breaker... neither of the ladies that wanted the set paid today, so they STILL wont be sent out tomorrow. Oh well, we wont be sewing at all tomorrow anyways. It's Halloween, after all, we have lots of fun and exciting Halloween things planned...

...like eating candy and watching horror movies.

Not only were we productive enough to get cage sets sewn, but I was productive enough to not only clean the litter box, but the rat cage too! We're talking cleaning, washing, scrubbing, putting new cage sets in and everything! I was proud. I've been a lazy bum the past few weeks. Of course we've cleaned the rat cage in the past few weeks, that would just be heinous!

After all that was said and done, LaVaughn and I decided to get our weekly shopping out of the way. We were out of the necessities, such as; soap, toilet paper, tooth paste, cat food, dog food, glider food, and then some. And of course, Halloween candy!!

We probably went a bit overboard with the Halloween candy, but we wanted to get what we could while we could. And by overboard, I mean like $15, nothing huge or anything. We also bought a couple Halloween themed candy bowels. A big black one for ourselves, and this adorable little green one for our aunt. It's like automatic that we split things with her, cause she does the same for us. So as soon as we got home, we fixed her candy bowel up and then headed over to her house for a while. She was pleased.

Lets see... am I missing anything? Oh yeah! You remember the fleece that we ordered from Joann.com a week ago? Well every day that I check the site, it says "processing". Since I was getting annoyed by that status, I decided to contact them today and ask just how long it's going to be "processing". Their response... nothing. But you know what, not 2 hours later we get an email saying our fleece shipped!! Ha! It's like they completely forgot about our order and just thought to ship everything when I reminded them. We're supposedly getting everything Friday, so we'll see.

Oh, I almost forgot. I called and scheduled Kyro's neuter for next Monday. I'm so freaking nervous about it. We've never taken a joey as young or as small as him in, so I'm like freaking out! We had such good luck with Pip, I'm afraid things are going to go horribly wrong. And to top it off, he and his sister will be leaving not long after! It's going to be a rough week.

Okay my lovelies, I believe I'm going to call it a day. Until next time...

Love & Peace

-Megan

The cage sets:

I couldn't decide which one I liked more, so I went with both!

Freaking love this zombie fleece!

As I ponder, weak and weary...

I decided to go with a Poe title, simply because it's dark and dreary out. Oh, and RAINY! Seriously, ever since 11:00 this morning, it's been raining. I'm assuming it started raining before then, but I was completely unconscious before 11. I was only at myself for a few minutes at when I heard the downpour. I don't think it slacked off once until 3ish.

Anyways...

I ended up not going to work today for reasons I don't care to discuss at the moment. You just never know who's reading my blog! Even though I highly doubt someone I know from this state is reading this at the moment. I guess everything worked out for the best. I don't feel at the top of my game today and have one of those annoying headaches that I can't seem to shake.

I think my headache is the main reason I didn't want to sew today, even though we needed to sew so badly. Here I go with that procrastination we all know and love.  At least we were able to cut everything out that needed to be cut. So when tomorrow rolls around, it's on like Donkey Kong!

Bart is so not making it easy for me to type. He's insisting on sitting on my shoulder and/or in my arms, leaving me only one hand to type with. Note to self; never put Bart in the bathroom (he was getting picked on outside) when I'm planing on blogging. And yes, I'm blogging in the bathroom, but that's beside the point.

Okay, so I like to blog in the bathroom. It's not my fault that it's my quite room with absolutely no distractions. Minus the dripping faucet... sigh.

Aside from the absolutely boring and wet day, we did manage to carry some of our little fur monsters around. We try to focus mainly on the joeys at this point, but we couldn't help but carry some of the older babies around as well. We decided to go with Chloe and Boone, mainly because Boone needs more of our attention (we're still working on his crabbiness). And not to mention, Chloe is harboring two glorious little ones. I carried Avon around because he's going to be leaving in a couple weeks and I want to get as much one-on-one time in with him while I still can. And, of course, the three little ones.

Not to worry, I managed to get a couple pictures of them as well. Nothing like last time, but enough to suffice. We'll have different pairs on us tomorrow. I'm thinking Sadie and Pip for myself, LaVaughn will probably go with Kira and Logan. Okay, rambling. Who cares who we'll be carrying tomorrow! Ugh... I think this headache is starting to toy with me!

Since staring at the computer screen isn't helping me at all, I believe I'm going to call it a day. Until next time...

Love & Peace

-Megan
