Tomorrow is a long time...

So LaVaughn and I decided to take a drive to Poplar Bluff today and spend money that we didn't really need to spend. It's literally been months since we've gone to Poplar Bluff, even longer since we went for pleasure. It was nice.

We hit up Petsway, the shoe store next door (where we spent too much money), Hastings, and then topped off our night with Wendy's and a Moo Latte from Dairy Queen. Doing what we did today is the exact reason why we don't go to Poplar Bluff.

We did get a really nice pair of shoes. Only one pair each, we were good. You'll also be happy to hear that we didn't get one animal at Petsway, not even any animal supplies! I'm surprised too, considering they had 3 adorable male rats that I so badly wanted to adopt. And we refrained from buying a lot at Hastings. We had about 5 movies picked out, but left with only one. We also left with a pack of The Walking Dead socks that are awesome! We got 5 pairs of socks for $12.99! How cheap is that?!

And now it's nearly midnight and I'm blogging. How pathetic am I. I'm left with guilty thoughts and empty pockets. And to top it off I have to be at work in 12 hours for another terribly 9 hour shift... in a restaurant with NO air conditioning. Someone call OSHA. Until then...

Doomed from the start...

Never, and I mean NEVER, start the days journey to a pet store off by saying, "We need to promise that we won't buy any animals today!" That's pretty much a dead giveaway that we bought a living, breathing creature today... isn't it? Ugh, why oh why did today happen? Why couldn't we have just gone to Hasting's and left it at that? Why must we be weak, why must we love rats SO much?

Well there you have it, we bough rats today. Yes, plural... rat-S! Two gorgeous, sweet, tiny little boy rats.

We almost bought a hairless boy from Pets-R-Us, but decided not to due to the fact that he was rather large and older. Still, I wanted to bundle him up and carry him home. Leaving him there nearly left me in tears. Of course, as soon as we get to Petsway I'm practically pulled to the rat tanks by some type of magnetic force field. And there at the bottom of the tanks were gorgeous "small" rats. And what they mean by "small" is too young to be taken from their mothers, but we're money hungry so we're going to do it anyway.

It wasn't even the size that did it for me, it was because out of the 7 baby rats that were in the tank, only one came running up to the front, practically ripping his nails off trying to get to me as if I was his long lost mother. It made things 10 times worse that he looks almost exactly like Sally. Even though it was against our best interests, I decided to ask one of the workers to let us hold them. BIG mistake! I held him and one other, but pretty much decided against it when we figured out they were boys. We're really only in the rat business for girls, so we passed and walked away.

We pissed some time away looking at some things for Sookie -- even though I still think she's a devil hamster -- then eventually made our way back to the rat tanks where that same little boy literally ran towards us and JUMPED on the glass trying to get to us! That basically sealed the deal. I tried not to run towards one of the workers, but I couldn't help myself. LaVaughn went and picked out a nice size Critter Keeper to carry them home in.

We, of course, decided on the little boy that looked like Sally, but we also decided to get the little boy that was following him around like a lost puppy. They were the only two that were out and about, so it was kind of meant to be.

The rest is pretty much history. We're are now owners of two gorgeous little rattie boys named, Opie and Jax. They're gorgeous, sweet, and probably the best thing since sliced bread. We're not 100% sure we're going to stick with those names, but as of right now it'll do.

After we calmed ourselves, we decided to go to Hasting's were we actually bought movies instead of just browsing around and buying The Walking Dead memorabilia! Since the only movie shopping we've done in the last 2 years has been online, it was such a rush to actually buy movies in an actual store! We left with a mix of blu-rays and DVDs... 10 of them. And not just run-of-the-mill crappy movies, movies that we love and have always wanted!

We were feeling risky on the way home and decided to stop by Wendy's to try their new Bacon and Blue. Not terrible, but not the best thing I've had either. I loved the aioli, but the blue cheese was a tad too pungent at times. Still pretty good, though. I'd probably try it again.

And now that I've rambled for the past 30 minutes, I guess I had better go. I need to go play with the new boys anyway.

Here's a nice look at all the movies we picked up today. SO excited!!

Remember when Sookie bit me? Well look at it today! O.o

Around the world in 5 hours... or less?

For the first time in a very long time, LaVaughn and I were actually able to take a LEISURELY drive to Poplar Bluff! It's been nearly a year - far too long in my opinion - since we've been there. And the last time we were there, if I remember correctly, we were nearly flooded out and had our aunt with us. It wasn't a bad day, of course, but it was a weird one to say the least.

Of course, we stopped by Pets-R-Us first. Not only is it first on the drive through PB, but it was 5:30 and they close at 6:00, so it's not like we had much of a choice. After we walked in, I was kind of wishing we hadn't made it in time. There were SO many people in there! That's not the only reason though, the new people they had working there were the main reason.

This one chick - who looked to be about 16 - followed LaVaughn around and asked her about her lip ring. All the while sneaking a flirt in here and there. That really made my day, lol. She didn't bother us too much after that, it was the other chick that really bothered us. She looked a little older than the one, but not by much. She followed us ALL over! I wanted to kill her!

Of course, we were walking around admiring the animals and I, like always, had the camera attached to my hand snapping a few pictures. It's not like I could get a lot of good ones though, I was being interrupted everywhere I went!

The older looking chick was like, "Do you want to hold anything?" LaVaughn replied, jokingly I might add, "Yeah, everything!" Then the girl was like, "I can let you hold 3 things." We both shrugged it off and said no thanks. That was just very annoying. It wasn't long after that, that we left.

Of course, when first walked in, LaVaughn spotted 3 puppies! She was like, "Awe, they're so cute, I want one so bad!" I was just like, "Meh." And walked away. I was actually following the sound of a mowing kitten. And as I walked up to the kitten room, I saw the most beautiful seal point kitten ever!! And he was so, so sweet. He kept meowing and rubbing on the glass, it was pitiful. I'm butter when it comes to kittens.

They wanted $75 for each dog AND the cat! It was unbelievably expensive! Pet stores are so good at ripping people off. After all that fun, we decided to leave.

It was then that we headed to Petsway.

Petsway is basically the same. They had the same animals, same stuff, and same oblivious staff. At least no one bothered us there! For some odd reason, we found ourselves at the parakeet cage fondling all the parakeets. Well, that was mostly me, but whatevs. We stared at them for a good 10 minutes before we fooled around with the idea of getting one. And why we did that, I'll never know! We both hate pet birds!

I'm serious though, we walked around for at least 20 minutes just pondering the idea of getting a parakeet! What the hell!? I seriously have no idea why. Luckily, we finally came to our senses and decided against it.

After that, we grabbed the rats a chew toy and left.

We were both pretty hungry by then, so we hopped across the street to Wendy's and nabbed one of their new Pretzel Bacon Burgers. We didn't want their fries or a drink, so we just stuck with the burger. The single had a price tag of just over $5 per burger, so we decided to make it a double for just under a dollar more. The grand total... $14!! For TWO burgers! I wanted to start screaming and speed out of the parking lot, but I thought that might look a little odd. Plus we both really wanted to try one, but holy shit that was expensive! Never again, never again. They were good though. ;)

After that, we stopped by McDonald's and grabbed some fries and a drink. Then we decided to head home.

Which leads me to now! And man am I happy to be home! It was nice to get out of the house for a while, and not just to run errands or go grocery shopping. It was just a nice day out on the town, lol.

Okay, now for even MORE exciting news... WE ORDERED TWO NEW HQ CAGES TODAY!! Omg, you have NO idea how excited I am about this! We've wanted new cages for SO long! After we get the rest of the money for Avan, we're ordering two more! Before long, we'll have all our babies in HQ cages!

Okay, I believe that's all for now. Until next time...

Love & Peace
