Happy Thanksgiving!

Today was the first time in years that my mom has been home for Thanksgiving and I couldn't be happier! It was her, her husband Bob, LaVaughn, Aunt Sharon, and Uncle Gene... all together! This is such a rare occasion, seriously. I just hope the good vibes and lovely people flow through to Christmas.

Of course, like every other year, we had Thanksgiving dinner. This should come as no surprise, our aunt has a huge dinner (for usually no more than 4 of us) every year and always cooks way too much food. That's just her, though. It was a lot nicer this year, considering there were actually more people to eat said food. Nothing exciting happened during dinner, it's the events that follow that were exciting.

And that leads me to my next subject... Black Friday! Well, technically it should be called Black Thursday, but whatevs. Believe it or not, I actually talked LaVaughn into going with me. Well, I actually think it was the $15 Walking Dead game that pushed her over the edge. Anyways, we swallowed our pride, got a couple weapons to protect ourselves, and off we went.

I knew it was going to be bad when you could see cars lined up all the way down the street from the store. My suspicions confirmed just how bad it was when we entered the actual parking lot... which was packed. We ended up having to park at the grocery store that was a couple parking lots away. That was fine with me, I knew it would be easier to make it out when we were ready to leave.

We ended up in the store around 5:10, only to find out that the 4:00 deals didn't start until 6:15!? WTF!? Since we had a good hour to wait, we decided to head back to the pet section where we could be alone. I left periodically and tried to scope things out, which was a bad mistake each and every time. Each and every isle was lined up with hundreds of people, no joke! It was a nightmare!

And every 5 minutes or so, someone would come over the intercom and say, "Remember everyone, no item in this store is worth getting hurt over. Please keep your safety, and the safety of your fellow shoppers in mind." It was hysterical!

As soon as they let the flood gates open, you could hear the swell of everyone's voices. It was scary! It was then that we decided to head out and try to make our way to the movie and video game section, which was not easy. The first things that we found were two red light bulbs for the glider room... go figure. We got stuck between a couple dozen people around the jewelry section with our stupid cart, all the while being coached by a lady behind us telling us to just slam people out of the way basically. It was funny.

We finally made it to the gift isle where we ended up ditching our cart entirely so that we would have better luck fighting through the crowds.

We then found our way back to the main isle where a couple awesome things were. Sorry, can't include what they were, considering the people we got them for could be reading. After that, I believe I shouted, "I have no idea where they are!" That's when a Walmart associate asked what we were looking, she then pointed us in the right direction.

Here's where it gets scary...

The isles that had the movies and games were smashed in the clothing section. There was maybe enough room for one row of people to walk down, but do you think that's what they did? Of course not! There were TWO rows of people smashing down each isle! We found the TV show section, but were unsuccessful in finding The Walking Dead season 3 and Supernatural season 8... boo!

That's when we made our way to the other side of the isle where the majority of the movies were. We were lucky enough to find The Lord of the Rings trilogy on blu-ray. Win! We also found a 300, Troy, and Alexander triple play on blu-ray. Among a few others, of course.

What I'm most excited about it... The Walking Dead!! While we were smashed between 2 dozen people, we were complaining that we couldn't find it because it was all the way on the other side of the isle. That's when the lady in front of us turned and said,

"What is it that you're looking for?"

We told her what we were looking for on a 360 and she shouted over to the next isle:

"The Walking Dead, The Walking Dead, is it over there!?"

That's when I guy ripped one up and tossed it over to her. She then turned around and gave it to us. SO awesome, lol. It wasn't long after that, that we separated. LaVaughn stayed hidden in a rack of clothes while I journeyed back to the TV show section in hopes of finding what we were looking for. Unfortunately, I was unsuccessful.

In other news... we got our Puff/Pillow pouches yesterday (not sure what she calls them now)!! They're adorable!! They're a little smaller than our first 4, but not by much. Now we have a pouch for every cage!!

Okay, I believe this blog has gone on long enough. Also, I'm getting sick of writing, lol. Until next time...

Here's what the store looked like when one a fraction of the people got there:

Hello darkness, my old friend...

I know it's weird for me to blog on a Tuesday, I normally blog on Monday's because I literally always have Tuesday's off. Well, since the store is being shut down today and tomorrow for the big "remodel", I have no work today! Also, I didn't do anything yesterday that was even blog worthy, so I passed.

I do have a bit of disturbing news in the family department. My aunt Eva, who is well into her 70s, has fallen very ill over the weekend. I believe it was Saturday night that everything first started happening to her. Now I may not be spot on with this, considering I've only got bits and pieces from different people about how things happened, so don't hold it to me.

Supposedly, she and her husband (and a few others?) were watching a movie Saturday night, then she decided to go lay down for a while. Later in the night, she sat up in the bed and started reciting a bunch of nonsense about getting a fish off of her hook. After that, she went back to sleep and never woke up. I found all of this out on my break Sunday.

My sister called me that night and filled me in on most of it while I was still at work. Since it's opening day for rifle season, we were freakishly packed! I was already on edge when the news about my aunt came about, so that just added to my aggravation. Not to mention, I had to stay 45 minutes over to close the lobby and then help Kevin in grill because he was all by himself. Fun!

Okay, back to my aunt. Apparently she was having mini strokes and passing some of her bodily fluid? I honestly have no idea what they're talking about, considering I only got bits and pieces of the story. I also heard that her kidneys were shutting down. And apparently, which is complete news to me, she's on hospice! When did this happen? I have no idea how many of her kids and grand kids were there with her because she was so ill. Also, she was given 2-4 days to live from her doctor through her hospice nurse! No joke!

For some moronic reason, none of her damn kids would take her to the hospital because it was "her wish". She's too fucking sick to know if she needs to go to the hospital or not!

To make a long story short, ever since Sunday night, her health has been declining and no one would take her to the hospital. My sister, my aunt, and I all think there's a bit of fowl play going on with one of her children. You all know how insurance works, right? Well, that's what we suspect. And apparently, even her own husband (who's basically on his death bed and nearing 90 years old) didn't know she was dying. It wasn't until the hospice nurse told him TODAY that he found out!

Well, everything changed when one of her eldest sons got there today and wasn't happy with anything that was going on, so he bucked up and (finally) had her taken to the hospital not 20 minutes ago! It's about fucking time!!

I would like to add that the lunatics that I'm talking about are very distant family member. They're people that I haven't spoken to in months! Aside from my sister, I'm only close to 6 people in my family. That's excluding my biological mother, imagine that!

Okay, new subject!

LaVaughn and I actually made a dent in our own personal cage sets today. We managed to sew 2! Lol, how pathetic. But hey, 2 in better than none. We're planing on tackling the other 3 tomorrow. Lets just hope we're successful.

We also have two sets to sew for one of our very frequent customers, Laci. She's ordered so many sets from us in the past couple months! And since she's so awesome, she's getting herself and nice big free shipping discount! Can free shipping actually be considered a discount? Well technically, yes, I suppose. Anyways, so we might be sewing hers tomorrow as well.

Oh, I almost forgot! LaVaughn and I ordered two new puff pouches/pillow pouches from Athena of Glider Trendz! We already have 4 of her pouches and they're awesome! We needed two more to have one for each cage, so we finally dished out the money and bought them. I'm excited.

And in other, more exciting new.... CHLOE'S JOEYS ARE ALMOST OOP!! I couldn't be more excited, as if you can't tell. These are her first joeys, so we're like super nervous, but we're so excited, we can't hardly leave her alone. And... she for sure has one PLAT!! This is going to be the first plat ever born here!! We've had two leus before, so that's not entirely new, but it'll still be freakishly exciting if she has a leu too.

Oh the excitement.

They look like they may detach this weekend, but I highly doubt it. More than likely, it'll be next week. Sigh... Well, as long as they're healthy, I don't care when they detach. I just know that I can't wait! And don't forget to check out the picture of the little sneak preview below!

Alright, I believe I've spilled enough beans for one day. It's time to watch some TV and try not to think about all the craziness that's going on around me. Until next time...

Love & Peace

Sugar glider love...

For the past couple weeks, it seems like we've neglected the gliders. We've had to put off holding them in bonding pouches for over a week now - which is far too long - and we haven't taken their picture in I don't know how long! Well today is a day of change, my friends. Today we worked them over - basically making them hate us, but they still loved it.

We finally got to carry them around in our new Pillow Pouches today and it was awesome!! I seriously adore those pouches. I don't think the gliders had too many bad things to say about them, especially since the bottoms are padded. :)

While I'm on the subject of gliders... Someone else might be interested in Simba (hate that name).

The lady that was originally planning on getting them has really been screwing us over. For one, she only put a deposit down on ONE of the joeys, and that was back at the beginning of April. We haven't see one penny since then. And every time I ask her about the money, she says she doesn't have it yet. Then when I ask her about when she's planing on picking them up, she mentions the end of summer!? That's just wrong on so many levels.

So yeah, we might be adopting to someone else.

IF we do sell "Simba" to someone else, there's a 99% chance that we're going to keep "Nala" - who will have a different name. Since we're planing on getting Logan neutered before long, we're wanting to keep a joey of theirs before they have no more. Kira has a joey IP right now, but that joey is going to Tracy. And not to mention Nala is a beautiful and mellow little girl. I love her to bits.

Omg, in non-glider related news... my aunt got all of her top teeth pulled today!! She's had so many tooth related problems, she finally decided to take the plunge and get dentures. I can't imagine what the poor thing must be going through right now! :(

In duck news... Harley seems to be on the road to recovery (knock wood). His neck seems to be less sore. The reason we think that is because he's finally starting to clean himself like a normal duck! There for a while the poor little guy couldn't lean his head down to back. He also couldn't shake his head when he would be in the water. Well now, he's all over the place with his neck, lol. He also likes to stand on our legs now when he's drying off after his daily bath. And when he eats bread, he wants it WITHOUT the crust!! He's a very demanding duck. I think being inside is giving him a big head. :O)

Well, I suppose that's all for now. Please enjoy all the lovely photos below...
