The reason why I hate going to the vet...

Well today was our big appointment day for the cats. Since Zoe is FIV+ and Una had high blood sugar levels last time she was at the vet, a check up was in order. And not to mention, I've noticed Zoe has been drinking a LOT of water lately. Naturally, I went into panic mode and started doing tons of research. The thing that popped in my head was kidney disease. I just kept playing that over and over until I made myself sick.

I've also been worried about how lumpy Zoe's scar was where she had her tumor removed.

Anyways, so we're at the vet, we're waiting -- anyone who has been to the vet knows what the waiting process is like. I was a nervous wreck! Ask LaVaughn. My heart was pounding, I was sick, I know my blood pressure had to be through the roof! Our appointment was for 5PM, we got there around 4:30 and ended up getting called back around 5:25ish.

The vet talked to us before she did any labs, asked us why we were there and wrote down some information. She took Una back to draw her blood first, then she brought her back for her exam. She got Zoe after that and took her back for her labs. She brought Zoe back and did an exam on her as well. Thankfully she didn't feel anything on Zoe's tummy, just lots of scar tissue from where she took so much fat.

Then the real waiting game started! It seemed like we were back there for hours! It didn't help that it was late and that there was an older couple there with 5+ cats that all had some type of URI. The vet and techs were in and out of that room up until after we left.

She came by once and told us Una's blood sugar was still high and that she wanted to run a thyroid test. Everything else of Una's was fine. About 20 minutes later -- this is around 6:25 by now, they supposedly close at 6:30 -- a lady came in with some Hill's Prescription samples of weight management dry food. I asked her if Zoe's results were back yet, then she replied "The vet will be in to discuss everything with you." My heart sank.

The vet came in a little while later and started explaining the results. She started by saying that Zoe's kidneys were showing some signs of distress. Her CRE was 3.2 and her BUN was 74. These are both too high and are signs of kidney disease. Luckily her phosphorus was good, that's great, but the other news was just as I expected. Una's thyroid was higher than it should be for her age. It was at 4.4 and the max is like 4.8. Una is only 8, so it's too high. She put her on a half of a pill once daily to (hopefully) get the numbers down.

Then she started bringing in lots of Hill's Prescription samples, plus two 4lb bags of food and canned food. She explained so much to us, I didn't even know which way was up. Luckily LaVaughn caught most of it. I'm not going to go into too much of what she said, so to make a long story short, both cats are on two diets that are polar opposites. Una needs high, high protein and low carbs, Zoe needs mild protein and low, low phosphorus. It's just like, oh my god. This food is also $24 per 4lb bag. Yikes, right? The cans are well over $1 each, but that's not as bad, considering we've been buying grain free foods, so they're all over that anyways. I'm just hoping and praying they eat this food. :(

This is why I hate going to the vet. I go there wanting to get good news, but I always expect bad news which usually it is. I'm so depressed right now. I'm sick, sad, tired and I feel like I want to hurl myself off of a cliff. I'm trying to think of the bright side, it could have been worse. It can ALWAYS be worse. Una's BS could have been higher, she could have to be in insulin immediately. She could have also been in full swing hypothyroidism. Zoe's kidneys could have been in much worse shape, she could have had another tumor. Things could have been worse, so I'm really trying to look at things that way.

In other news, we stopped at Hasting's on the way home. Everything of theirs is like 50% off now, it's insane. We got a couple True Blood POPS! for $5 each, which is a steal. The real winner is LaVaughn's Batman jacket that she got for just under FIVE dollars! I took the jacket up front and asked how much it was because it didn't have a price on it. She said they were $20, so she put a $10 price on the jacket. When we went to check out, the lady cut that price in half as well making it $5, I couldn't believe it. It was a total win.

So yeah, that's that. It's so late right now, I don't even know why I'm blogging. We didn't get out of the vets office until after 7, so it's nearly 11PM right now. I need to go. I need coffee and a xanax.

Here's a look at our new food:

And our new True Blood POPS!:

Less of a man...

I hate when there's something to do every day of the week. Not just like everyday errands, but when you have to go someplace more than an hour away, it just makes your days off seem non-existent.

We had to go to Fredericktown today to get Lestat neutered. After all, he's leaving us in a week. Actually, he'll be leaving exactly a week from today. His neuter went well, which was a huge relief. He didn't pay too much attention to the neuter site, which was surprising. I think we're still scared from getting Neal and Declan neutered. I hope none of them ever act like that again.

We jotted by the store where we intended on only getting a couple things, but ended up leaving with over $100 worth of stuff, which really hurt. I HATE spending that much money on food. Surprisingly, a huge chunk of that went towards glider fruit and veggies. We're going to try cutting a bunch up at a time again. I guess we'll see how that goes.

When we arrived back home, we were please to find that True Blood had arrived. I wish I could say that we've been anticipating it for a week, but shipping was actually quite fast. Our Funko POP! series 2 of The Walking Dead also arrived, which completely surprised LaVaughn because I had never mentioned that I ordered them. I LOVE them! It's so terrible, but I already want to order the 3rd series, but I know I can't right now... sad face.

Before any of this took place, I called Pet Safe and scheduled Lucian's flight for next week. Unfortunately, the latest flight they had was for 3:25, so that means we have to be there by at least 1:25, meaning we have to leave by no later than 11 AM. Yeah, so not looking forward to getting up that early and fighting Saint Louis traffic. Keep your fingers crossed everything goes well for us.

I suppose that's all for now. I'm going to finish feeding everyone and play some Watch Dogs. Until next time...

Love & Peace

True Blood on DVD!! So excited!!

You can't take it with you...

Before I start, I feel like I should say hello or something! It's been nearly a week since my last blog, but that's mainly because absolutely nothing has been going on. I haven't gone anywhere, I haven't done anything. LaVaughn and I have been spending most of our time around the PS4, which is so sad and pathetic in so many ways.

That's actually a good topic to start out with! You remember me talking about winning Need For Speed: Rivals? We that arrived last Thursday and we couldn't have been happier about it! Since LaVaughn is more of a racing fan than I am, so got first dibs on the game. From the second she started playing, it all seemed so weird! Yes, the graphics were awesome as well as the cars, but the game was so positively terrible!

By the time Thursday night rolled around, I already had it listed for sale on eBay. Luckily, it sold for $29, which almost covered Tomb Raider, which we bought the same night for $31. So we almost cut even, which was awesome.

While I'm on the subject of games, I may as well brag up Watch Dogs, which is one of the best games since GTA 4. The map is HUGE! There are endless places to go and drive, there are hundreds of people to hack -- so you always have some time of money coming in, and the side missions are almost more fun than the actual story-line missions. It's just an all around awesome game.

I just wonder if it's going to beat The Last of Us, which comes out a week from tomorrow.

We also got our lime green Biohazard skin last Thursday as well. That is probably one of the coolest things I have ever seen in my entire life! It went on fairly easy, it's just kind of hard to keep on. Mostly just on one side, it's still so pretty and awesome.

Since out PS4 can connect wirelessly to our Wifi, it gives us access to things like Netflix, which we have a free month of. We've been watching old classics, like Law & Order: SVU and others. One of the most exciting is Sons of Anarchy! We've only watched the first few episodes, but it's already awesome and addicting.

Speaking of addicting -- True Blood is addicting! We almost have the entire first season watched, but took a break from it to watch SOA. We ended up buying the first two seasons of True Blood used on eBay for like $14, but then found seasons 1-6 on Ebay BRAND new for $60. It was one of those "you just can't pass this up" type of things. I've been trying to sell the first two seasons, but so far no one is interested. It really, really sucks because we'll have TWO copies of the first two seasons, which we don't need. It's just really eating away at me.

I'm sure you know by now that I'm head over heels in love with any and everything The Walking Dead. So it should come as no shock to you that LaVaughn and I have started collecting the POP! Television Funko Walking Dead series. It started out simple, I just found us a little Daryl and Rick. It was just a coincidence that the two that I bought ended up being from the first series. All we needed were 2 little walkers to complete it, which I found, bought, and arrived today.

Now LaVaughn doesn't know this, but I found a complete set of all the ones from the second series for like just over$7 each!! I thought I was going to die! Now we just need the 3rd and 4th series before the 5th series comes out this October!!

I desperately feel like I need to sew and sell like 10 cage sets to make up for my, our brazen spending. We seriously have to stop, it's addicting and I hate it. I mean yes, all the things that we're getting are awesome, but we need to save this money for the remodel of our garage!! Now I feel guilty and want to return some of it. Some... not all, The Walking Dead stuff is staying.

I'm going to close with discussions of work. I worked nearly 18 hours over the weekend and feel every ounce of it. My legs are so sore from yesterday, I feel like I ran a marathon -- I practically did, though. I sometimes feel like I'm the only one that does anything, which annoys me. I almost got into a fight Saturday night with a kid named Timmy. It was on him, he has a smart little mouth that just went through me. One of the managers even took us outside so we could talk about it. It all ended in my favor, luckily. He even apologized before I went home. So my work weekend was stressful to say the least!

Love & Peace
