When the weather outside is opposite of frightful...

So, the weather today is pure perfection. This is my ideal day; mostly sunny, low 70s, a mild breeze -- it's just perfect. So to take advantage of the perfect day, we say outside for the longest time, soaking up the sun and chatting with family. Nothing special took place, just a merry gathering of sorts.

It's rare that we all get to sit and do nothing for a while. It seems like everyone is moving at a fast pace all the time anymore, which is sad. We need more slow days. Days with less worry, days to just relax and enjoy.

I especially enjoyed yesterday, I got another POP! in the mail! I was able to buy burning walker from someone on the POP! Facebook group for $13 shipped!! He's worth like $16 without shipping, so you can imagine my excitement. No one else gets it, so it's something I enjoy on my own. Even my one "friend" I met in the POP! group is weird. He's just like "meh" every time I show him something. He likes to boast, so nothing I have is worth anything. Little does he know I could give two shits about the price of my POPS!, I collect to collect, not to make money.

Well, I guess that's all for now. Hope you enjoy some of the pictures below...

My amazing burning walker POP!

My beautiful Zoe:

Goodbye, old friend...

This unbelievably gorgeous and sweet boy had to be put to sleep today. My heart is breaking in two right now.

He has been a part of our family for almost 17 years. I still remember the day we got him. It was a cold December night in 1999. We had heard of a "kennel" out in the middle of nowhere that had a bunch of puppies up for adoption. What was supposed to be a kennel turned into a run down cage with over a dozen different puppies inside. All were different breeds, underweight and sickly. Fletcher stood out from the crowd and was the first puppy I picked up. There was something special about him, even then. I even surpassed my favorite breed to get him.

It was a long road of recovery for him as he was nearly on his death bed when we got him home. We've had over 16 wonderful and happy years with this old man, but he's been suffering the last couple months and putting him to sleep was the best thing for him, even thought it was the last thing we wanted to do. Tumors had spread to his lungs, liver and his kidneys were starting to shut down. He's taken a big piece of my heart with him, but he will never be forgotten.

I love you so much, Fletcher. I know that you're not suffering now and we couldn't ask for anything more.

The cat and the hopper...

I spent a lot of one-on-one time with my boy, Bart, this evening. He's such a loving, sweet cat. I feel so terrible for not spending more time with him on a daily basis. I just rarely ever spend THAT much time outside -- it's kind of a get your stuff done and go back inside mindset when I'm outdoors. We all know I'm a vampire at heart.

Anyways! I had originally gone out to take pictures, like I normally do. Bart followed me all along the fence line, like he always does, so I stopped to admire his beauty and to capture a gorgeous picture of him looking out at the lake.

Not sure if I've mentioned it or not, but the neighbors across the lake have a Pitt Bull that likes to venture down to our house -- like in our yard, eating the dog and cat food. He's a friendly dog, but it's frustrating. Especially when our dog, Milla, is so territorial. Well the dog was up at the lake and Bart spotted him. He locked on and didn't move for a good 5 minutes. He got extremely spooked, which made for fantastic pictures!

I got down on one knee and got a couple, it wasn't 30 seconds later that he noticed how close to the ground I was, then he pounced on me as if I had a field mouse in my lap. I ended up setting all the way down on the ground, eventually lying on the ground -- I was planing on showering, so it wasn't a big deal. He sat on me and kneaded for the longest time. He has terribly sharp talons, so I could only tolerate so much. I did get some fantastic pictures (and video) in the process, so my battle wounds were well worth it.

Before all of this took place, I spotted a grasshopper and took well over 30 pictures of him, just to assure myself I got the perfect one! My 50 mm lens doesn't work well for closeups, but I made due. I've said all along, I NEED a macro lens. It's unfortunate that I'm not rich, oh well.

That concludes my exhilarating Friday night. It's back to playing The Sims for a little while longer, then on to Mad Max. I need to enjoy my evening, after all, I do have to work tomorrow. ;)

Love & Peace

Of course I took pictures of other random things, like leaves:

This is the Pitt Bull that scours the area. He's super cute -- he's also pretty sweet.

Now for my main man, Bart:

I adore this picture! It's my new header on Facebook. :)

He's so locked on.

He has such intent!

These are where he was sitting on my lap, kneading:

Very focused on the task at hand.

Yet locked onto the dog.

He's just to die for.

This is probably my favorite.

East bound and down...

The day has finally arrived. A day I've been anticipating for over 5 years -- what does this tell you?? I finally got my CREAMINO!!! Getting her standard 100% het sister was just a bonus.

Thank god for friends like Christina. She had to meet someone in Perryville that was adopting a joey from her, so we said we would just meet her there and pick up the girls. Did I mention that she picked them up from the airport for us a few days ago? Well she did. She's also going to ship Evan and Neville for us later this week. See why she's so awesome?

We didn't stand outside of Walmart for very long -- I'm assuming she wanted to get her long drive back to STL over with. I gave her a hug and thanked her for the 1000th time, then we parted ways.

Since we were in the neighborhood, we decided to stop by and see Ty, my mother. I know I've explained this before... Ty is my biological mother, but Judy (Ty's mother) raised me. So there you have it, I have two moms that aren't lesbians. ;) Anyways, she was at work so we stopped by and talked to her for well over an hour. It was nice.

A friend of hers -- someone we used to know years back -- stopped by for a few minutes while we were there. It took her a few seconds and several glances before she realized who we were. She's just as crazy as I remember her being. It made for very awkward conversations. Especially when she tried to hook one of us up with a guy from Piedmont that has seizures. O.o It's okay, though, he hasn't had one for 6 months. << See... AWKWARD!

After we finally left, we had to stop by her house for a quit hello with Jeff and my little brother, Jake. Jeff and my mom have been together for quite some time now. It's nice, he's nice and just all around awesome. Definitely my favorite guy she's ever dated, I love him. He's always so warm and welcoming, it's like I've known him for years.

We talked to them for quite some time, but not nearly as long as her. It wasn't long after we arrived that we left.

So now we're home. The little girls are EXTREMELY crabby. Like they've never been around humans crabby. It's a little depressing, but hopefully they'll loosen up after they're settled in a couple days.

In other gliders related news, Charli's tiny little white joey detached today. I'm not 100% sure what exactly he is, but he's definitely a joey! If he's a leu, that means Charli proved out her 6% het and Tyler his 50%. This little guy doesn't have much fur on him -- he's a tad on the premie side -- so it'll take a few days to decipher exactly what he is.

I bid you adieu, fellow readers. I'm completely and utterly exhausted and need to go do something that doesn't make me even more exhausted...

Love & Peace

-Megan

The last pictures I'll ever take of Neville and Evan... shutter!

Pictures of Ty, Jeff, and Jakes yard:

Their dog (and them!):

He still looks so little!

But also grown up.

That hair needs some serious trimming, though.

And maybe some hot oil.

I just love this dog:
