Elephant Rocks or bust...

What a weekend we had! I can't even begin to describe how much fun I had yesterday. Not only did I get to see Elephant Rocks for the first time, watch the season 6 premiere of The Walking Dead, but I did my first official photoshoot yesterday! I didn't get paid or anything, considering they're friends, but it was still an ACTUAL shoot!

I was on cloud 9! Even more so when we got home and actually got to look at the pictures. Some of them are just to die for! I took over 600 and ended up downsizing to 70 that I'll be giving to her. LaVaughn and I then downsized even more for a Facebook preview (and for my photography page). I can't even begin to describe the way it made me feel. Proud, confident, accomplished... Complete.

Elephant Rocks was a blast and such an unbelievably gorgeous place to visit. I still can't believe something so beautiful is so close to us! I want to take my aunt and uncle there next week. Well, LaVaughn and I both do. It would be a lot of fun.

Well, I guess that's all for now. I have LOADS of pictures at the bottom. Lucky for you I downsized from over 400 pictures to 150 -- go me!

Words can't even...

We received some devastating news last night. Our little ringtail girl, Wanda, passed away. Milli has only had her for 8 days, it's unreal. She apparently started going downhill a few days ago and appeared to be suffering from a UTI, which was treated at the vet yesterday. Apparently she started doing a little better last night, then just did a complete 180 and started having seizures.

It just doesn't seem real, I'm so upset. Milli is heartbroken, of course, but I have this feeling of sadness that I can't shake. She's having a necropsy done next week, so hopefully that will shed some light on exactly what happened to her.

I wish we would have kept her like we originally wanted to go. I have so much regret, I can't even begin to describe the way I feel. I just feel sick.

As much as I really don't want to go, I must. I have to be at work in just over an hour, definitely not looking forward to a day of sadness and loss. Hopefully we'll be busy and I won't have time to think about anything that's going on.

The rat man forgives you, this time...

LaVaughn and I have been trying something new with the rat cage -- no liners! I try to clean the rat cage every few days, but lets me honest, it doesn't always happen that way. And those of you who own male rats know just how smelly they can be sometimes. As of now, we're going liner free and I've vowed to clean the rat cage daily. Yes, I said DAILY! I bought a couple little bottles that are specifically for a vinegar/water mix that will be used to clean the cage (and drop trays) with.

I even bought cheap paper towels that are just for the rat cage and drop trays. Fancy that!

I think I mentioned a while back that I bought a couple rat items from a lady on Facebook that was for her rats medical bills (he's doing good, btw). Well we decided to put those and that awesome rat bed in their cage that Doug made. It's not as filling as their other cage set, but it looks okay. Especially with a shoe box filled with fleece. Have I mentioned that's their favorite thing ever?

I took loads of pics of them on my phone -- not a single photo on my camera. I know, I'm terrible! Not to worry, I'll be adding all of those to the post below.

To top the day off, we got The Walking Dead season 5 in the mail today! SUPER excited to watch it all again, especially with the season 6 premiere airing this Sunday!

Speaking of Sunday, have I mentioned that I'm doing my first official (unpaid) family photo session this weekend? It's of Angie's family, so they're still friends, but it's an ACTUAL shoot! You have no idea how excited I am about this. We're also going to Elephant Rocks after -- we've never been and they're giving us a tour. I'm pretty darn excited about that.

So, I guess that's all for now. Until next time...

Pictures from today:

Wasted days and wasted nights...

LaVaughn and I had to go to Fredericktown today so that she could stop by the DMV. I also wanted to go to Walmart and pick up some coffee creamer -- they don't have what I want here, so Fredericktown is the only place to get it. We also took Boone and Jeremy with us so that we could get them neutered if the vet had time.

Well to start things off, the DMV was closed today. Don't you think they could have mentioned that last Wed. when we were there and the last told us to come back THIS Wed.? I called and apparently they're having their annual troopers meeting. Completely ridiculous! This was the main reason we went in the first place!

While LaVaughn was trying to get in touch with someone, I called the vet and asked if they could squeeze in a couple neuters today. That was a big no! It was a long shot, but they're normally slow in the middle of the week.

We're super agitated at this point, so we decide to head over to Walmart to let off some steam. I get out of the car, fix my hair and reach in the backseat to get my purse... IT WASN'T THERE!! I left my damn purse at home! So I had no money and no ID!

We both said "Fuck this day, lets just go home!".

That's really all I had to share. I still can't believe we drove all the way to Fredericktown, got out at the DMV and drove back. A completely, 100% wasted trip. That is all...

These are the only pictures I took today:

He's giving me the feels...

It's been an unbelievably boring few days. I didn't have to work ALL weekend -- not per my request -- and have accomplished absolutely nothing! Poor LaVaughn has been suffering from a terrible sinus infection, so not much has been done along the lines of sewing (or anything glider related). I'm not in any way looking forward to going work tomorrow, but I kind of am. I think it'll be nice to get out of the house for a while.

We were originally supposed to meet up with Angie and her family Saturday to do their family portraits and then venture to Elephant Rocks, but the weather was unbelievably crappy, so we had to postpone to next weekend.

Yesterday, as I'm sure most of you know, was the season finale of Fear The Walking Dead. I don't know what possessed them to do a 6 episode stint -- I guess they were gunning for a test run, kind of like what they did with TWD. Come on people, did they really think that after the popularity of TWD that Fear TWD wouldn't be a hit? Now we have to wait until next year for it to pick back up. Cause lets face it, we know it's getting renewed.

At least The Walking Dead season 6 premieres this Sunday! Yay!!

Chloe and Boone's newest joey is REALLY tugging at my heartstrings! I don't know what it is about him, but I love him. It could be that he's a singleton, or the fact that we're considering getting Boone neutered this week. I honestly have nothing to justify my feelings other than the fact that he's gorgeous and special. Have I mentioned that we've named him Norman? Well we have.

He weighed in at 28 grams today, which is apparently normal for him. He's been gaining 2-3 grams every 2 days since he's been OOP. I just hope he continues to grow and is a healthy boy.

I guess that's all for now. Until next time...

Here are some pictures of Norman from a little while ago:

Just look at his face!

And those ears! Omg, his ears are to die for!

And lastly, a partial picture of yesterday's glider grub:
