Nothing says fun like a day at the hospital...

Well yesterday was just a bucket full of sunshine! There was a knock on the door around 10:30 in the AM and it was my aunt, Sharon. She was saying that she just got back from her doctor - well, nurse practitioner - and was supposed to go to the hospital as soon as possible. Apparently, her doctor didn't like the way a certain number looked on her lab results and it may have been caused by heart problems. Long story short, LaVaughn and I didn't want her to go alone, so we decided to go with her and drive her up there. During this time, I was only going on about 3 hours of sleep - fun!

I'm not going to go into massive details about the whole ordeal at the hospital - oh, we drove all the way to Southeast hospital in Gape Girardeau. We got there around 12:30 and went straight to her room. The poor thing had 5 different people try to draw blood and get an IV in, it was horrible! After that, she had to have a chest x-ray and a couple other tests. By the time everything was said and done, it was nearly 7PM and they couldn't find anything wrong with her heart. Her ER doctor said that the number her nurse practitioner was worried about is something they normally never test, due to the fact that so many things can effect the results.  She basically had to have all of this done for no reason at all.

On the downside, she did find out that she has emphysema, definitely not fun. Her ER doctor said that she needed to quite smoking. The bright side, she hasn't had a cigarette in over 24 hours!

Well, I suppose that's all for now. Believe it or not, I'm still wore out from the long ass day yesterday. Time to go mold my body into the couch...

Love & Peace

Song of the day: Caught Up In You by .38 Special

Here are the pics:

An old antique shop in Marble Hill.

A nice 70's style throw. Looks hand made.

So does this one.

The entrance to the rooms.

Hospital lighting... creepy.

This was a stroke poster that was hanging in her room. I seriously couldn't stop looking at it and laughing.

And now, I'm not laughing at stroke victims, I'm laughing at the second photo. Zombie arms! LOL

My poor aunt. Look at how unhappy she looked on her hospital bed. :(

I believe she was chewing gum in this picture.

Such an unhappy hospital patient.

The door to the bathroom. We were told several times that this was one of only 2 rooms that had it's own bathroom. Must be a hot topic!

An IV hanger.

How is that up to code? This is what happened when one of the nurses tried to turn the heat up.

Another shot of the IV holder with an eerie hospital light in the background.

Ugh, it was only 2:30. Little did we know, we'd be there for 4 more hours!!

The stairwell in the hospital.

It was a long way to the top.

The view from the second floor of Southeast Missouri Hospital. Very pretty!

Too bad this wasn't the floor we were on.

Such a beautiful day.

A nice view of the lake/pond in front of the Hospital.

The whimsical walkway.

Pretty!

Another shot of the lake.

Geese on the lake.

Upon closer inspection, I see that they were Canadian geese!

Lovely little gaggle of geese.

The fountain in the lake/pond.

And another scenic view in front of the hospital.

The one really awesome plus about going to the hospital, all of these masks we free!

I don't know what they're called, though.
