A tooth for a tooth...

Since my aunt is still in no shape to drive on her own, I was the one that drove her to Perryville today so that she could go back to the dentist for a check-up. I have absolutely no problems chauffeuring people around, what I don't like is getting up super early in the morning. Since her dentist appointment was at 1PM, I had to get up at 10:40 in the morning!! Ahhh!

I actually just dozed off for like 20 minutes a little bit ago. At least I've had my power nap for the night!

We got to Perryville at 12:30, so we had 30 minutes to blow before the office opened up after their lunch break. Since my aunt bragged about a thrift store just around the corner, we decided to hit it up. It was just as I suspected, stuffy, crowded, and smelled of mothballs. I can't complain too much, considering I love finding great deals at places like that. Unfortunately, not too many deals were to be had. LaVaughn found a pair of shoes and I found a mini pitcher. That was pretty much it.

After we finished up there, we dropped our aunt of and headed to the pet store. After being in the place for 20 minutes, I'm kind of wishing we hadn't gone in. That place was a nightmare!! The cages were all filthy, 90% of the animals had no water, and to top it off, they had about 7 puppies in a play pin that were just shitting and pissing in the floor!! And of course, they had no food or water.

They also had two cages of kittens. The top cage had 3 kittens, they all looked semi healthy. The bottom cage had probably 4 or 5 and they all had an upper respiratory disease. It was awful! And on top of the two kitten cages, there sat that poor Patagonian Mara!! It's a lot bigger now, so it was really crammed in there. It also had no food or water.

And of course, they had sugar gliders. They had 2 girls and a boy. We got them out and looked at them, even though we shouldn't have. They were SO pitiful!! I wanted to take them all home, but they were all sold. :( All they had was some type of colorful dry food in their cage. It was awful.

I still can't get that awful smell out of my nose.

After we left Perryville, we stopped at KFC so that my aunt could eat. She insisted that we get something to eat to, but we decided to wait and eat at Dairy Bar in Fredericktown. We ate super early today, at like 3 in the evening!! When I don't have to work, we normally eat at 6 or 7. When I do have to work, we eat at 10 or 11, so it was WAY too early for dinner, lol.

Well, I suppose that's all for now. Time to head to Sonic for a half priced shake!

Yes, they had a prairie dog.

Cutest prairie dog in the world!!

And some cute ferrets.

Their cage was filthy.

Albino snake eating a rabbit. :(

Bunnies!

These hedgehogs were mean!

I think these were quails.

Look how filthy their cage was!

Disgusting!

I wanted one of these SO bad!

Look at all the shit in the floor!

They also had no food or water.

And yes, they had an alligator.

Check out my awesome little mini pitcher.

No idea what I'll do with it, but at least I got something from the place.

And lastly, LaVaughn's shoes. Not bad, eh? :)

Facebook groups will be the death of me!

I was browsing around on one of my favorite Facebook groups a couple days ago, Bates County Farm and Garden, for some baby ducklings that I could call my own. I looked for hours, to no avail, when I saw a link someone had posted to yet another Facebook group! This one, called Southeast Missouri Farm Birds, Game Birds & Rabbits: Buy, Sell, Trade, automatically caught my eye because, well, because I saw Southeast Missouri and farm Birds in the same sentence, lol.

Of course, I joined and automatically posted that I was in desperate search of baby ducks. Well, I didn't add the desperate part, but that's the way I felt on the inside. The very first comment was some snot nosed twat saying, "I have two ducklings, but don't want to part with them. Sorry!" so yeah. I didn't want the bitches ducks anyway! After that, a few people chimed in and said they had this, that or would have something in a couple weeks. Of course, I responded by asking prices, locations and breeds!

Then came Lanette... precious, precious Lanette. She began to tell me that she had a few ducklings hatched out and would be hatching more out in a couple days. At the end of her description, she added that they were... WELSH HARLEQUINS!! Welshies are only my favorite duck in the entire world. Saxony are a close second, but I adore the Welsh Harlequins. I responded -- all the while trying to contain my excitement -- and asked where she was located. My jaw dropped when she said she was from Perryville! She followed with a, "You probably don't want to travel that far for ducklings, though." boy was she wrong! As fate would have it, my aunt was due for a dentists appointment in Perryville this Thursday!

After I calmed down from all the excitement, I asked her to email me so that we could go more in depth about pick ups and so on. I emailed her and explained that my aunt would be in her neck of the woods in a couple days and asked if she could get them for me. After all was said and done, I ended up asked her if my aunt could just call her. She said yes and talked to my aunt a little while ago. So, it's official... we're getting baby ducks TOMORROW!!

Okay, I need to calm myself!

We tried the whole "bathtub intro" with Cas and Violet yesterday. We cleaned the bathtub out, pulled the curtain up and dried up any remaining water. We then proceeded to put one drop of vanilla extract on the backs of their necks and put them in the tub. At first, Violet was freaked and chased him. Then, for no apparent reason, she just stopped! That's when I started scooting Cas up closer and closer to her. Unfortunately, as soon as he would see her, he'd take off. Usually crabby, but not always.

So now, Violet is okay with Cas, but Can is completely scarred from all the times she chased him. *sigh* Now I have no idea what to do. I guess we'll keep trying this method - since it's the only thing that seems to be working - and hope that he gets less freaked by her.

Kira is letting us see more and more of those gorgeous joeys she has tucked away! The little girl with the white tip appears to have a really awesome hood! It's a stripe that goes all the way across her head. Definitely going to be a looker! The other little joey - who I originally thought was a girl, now not sure - with the larger white tip has a nice band at this base of his/her tail. This little one also has a small white splotch on the back of his/her head. These are going to be some pretty, pretty joeys! Their new mommy is getting SO excited about their upcoming OOP date.

We managed to get all the gliders' nails trimmed today. Believe it or not, it actually went very smoothly and quickly. Even Stacie's gliders! If you add that up, that's 10 gliders and 180 nails! Wowza!!

While we were trimming Kira and Logan's nails, we heard faint singing that got progressively louder. Since we were holding Kira, we knew it wasn't her. It was Sadie! Her joey is so tiny, I can't believe she was already singing to it! Blows my mind, seriously. Especially since sugar gliders don't normally sing to their joeys until they're a couple weeks from being OOP and after. She's a weirdo.

Okay, I'm going to end my short novel there.

Love & Peace

He was not happy with his nail trim, lol.

Prettiest True Platinum Mosaic sugar glider ever!!

It's official... we're banned!!

My aunt and LaVaughn had a dentist appointment yesterday in Perryville. As I sad a couple days ago, I'm the lucky duck that got to drive them. The appointment was for 4:00 yesterday evening and we ended up leaving at 1:40. Way too early! For some reason, they want to leave early so that they're not late. No matter how many times I say, "We don't need to leave until at least 2 or a little after, they're both like, "Well I'd rather be early than late." *sigh*

Well we left early and ended up getting to Perryvile with 50 minutes to spare. There was no sense in going to the dentist's office that early because they will never get you in early. So I said to them, "Would you guys like to go ahead and go to the pet store?" with no hesitation from LaVaughn, she shouted, "Yes!" My aunt was sighed and shrugged her shoulders. So to the pet store we went!

My aunt decided to set in the car, because she was being a little toad, lol. As soon as LaVaughn and I walked in, we went straight for the rats... go figure. I looked around in the small rat cage and noticed a stunning face right off the bat! The girl that works there is really easy going, so I had no problems opening the door myself to hold the rats. I stretched my arm all the way to the back of the cage and picked the pretty little thing up. She was very skittish and tried several times to jump out of my hand. I held her long enough to see that she was a girl, then put her back in her cage.

LaVaughn and I gazed over at each other, both running the same thought through our minds. Still failing to say anything, though.

I looked over at the other cage, which housed medium sized rats. I still kills me that they put them in groups of: small, medium and large. They should be separating the males from the females! Anyways, the medium sized rat cage was fool of black and brown hooded, capped and variegated rats. I opened that door as well to see if anyone stood out. For some reason, I reach my hand in and picked a little one up. To my surprise, another girl! I stood and held for a while and then put her on my shoulder. She crawled down in my shirt and then back up to my shoulder. LaVaughn put the remaining medium sized rats up and closed the door.

I told her I still had one out on me, and handed her over to her. She held her and loved on her, all the while never evening considering putting her back in the cage. That's when she looked at me, "So, are we getting this one and the other one?" As I let out a sigh, I said, "Yes." I reach back in the other cage and pulled the other little girl out and held her in my hands the rest of the time.

There were two different creamy colored rats that were BEAUTIFUL! Unfortunately, they were both really wild, so they were out of the question. Still, they were pretty!

In the large cage, there was only one male rat. Not just any rat, a Siamese rat! That's LaVaughn's dream rat, actually. It really sucked that he was a boy. I actually just called the pet store and asked about him not 5 minutes ago. I asked if he was friendly or aggressive. Her response, "Someone actually bought him as snake food today and are coming to pick him up later. But yes, he's very aggressive." I just replied with an okay and then hung the phone up.

Now I'm sad, depressed, and really regretting not buying him yesterday. Why must people feed poor little defenseless rats to snakes? It makes me sick to think about. Especially when I think about how 90% of those adorable little rats will become snake food one day. I wish I could buy them all and give them the life I know they'll never have...

Okay, I can not think about this all day! It's making me sick!

While we were in Perryville yesterday, I actually got to see my mom! It was so nice to actually get to talk with her for a while and see her in person. She looks about the same and still has awesome stories to tell. I'm serious man, she is so comical in the way she tells her stories! I wish we lived closer. I don't wish I lived closer to Perryville -- I hate that place anymore -- I wished she lived closer to us! Hopefully we'll get to see more of each other this year.

We introduced the new ratties to Sally and Emilie last night and they loved each other! I'm serious, it was like instant success. They're so not like gliders, lol. They all slept together last night and everything.

The new girls are a tad smaller than Sally and Emilie. Our older girls are 3 1/2 month old, while these two are probably 6 weeks old. The size difference isn't huge, though.

We haven't thought of good names yet. We considered Katia and Isabelle (Kate and Is), but those names aren't sticking. I think I'd like to stick with the Time Burton theme and name them after one of the characters in one of his movies.

So yes, we are absolutely, 100% banned from entering any pet store! Especially if they have rats!! Okay, I need to fix some coffee and sew!

Love & Peace
