Fleece, worms, and fur... oh my!

A glider friend of ours came to us a couple weeks ago asking about cage sets. When all was said and done, we agreed to sew a couple cage sets for her. No problem! We've done two huge orders for her before, so we know what we're getting into, lol. Anyways, we ordered all the fleece from fabric.com and got it all today. It's SO cute! The two patterns she wanted are ducks, and the one for us -- yes, we got one for ourselves -- is tie-dye zebra on lime green! SO cute!

No we just have to work up the courage to get it all sewn for her, lol.

Oh yeah, I took our wild beast of a dog out a little while ago and brushed the shit out of her. I'm not kidding when I say that this dog sheds non stop. No joke! I can brush her for 30 minutes and turn around and rub a hand full of hair off of her. It's insane. I want to take her to the groomer so badly, but never get to. Maybe one day.

I almost forgot... our little rabbit died. :( I guess the little guy just succumbed to his injuries. Well, we did what we could and kept the little guy (or girl) and comfortable as possible.

Speaking of sick things, Toby with an I (10 points to whoever gets that reference) is doing so much better now! I can't believe I haven't mentioned it. My mind as been all over lately. Anyways, he's doing much, much better now. He was actually doing much better the day after we gave him his meds. But now his eyes are clear, he doesn't sound as congested as he did. Overall better! :)

Well, I suppose that's all for now. Until next time...

Just look at the loose hair on her hip!

It's so terrible.

Here's all the hair that came off of her. Some not pictured.

And lastly, our fleece! Isn't it pretty!? :)

You mean it's finally done!?

Believe it or not, we were finally able to get Kyan's set sewn and sent out today. I honestly can't believe it, lol. It seems like we've put it off for forever! I hate procrastinating when it comes to sewing. Now I just hope we can get the rest of our stuff sewn and sold later this week!

Since today was another random day, I decided to take some pictures around the yard again. Nothing special, like always. It's not like the scenery changes every day, so I'm basically running around taking pictures of different things, just from a different angle.

Oh yeah, Bart found a baby rabbit today. Well, he didn't so much "find" it, he caught it. And of course, we chased him down and took it from him. It's seriously so cute, but the poor little thing has a huge chunk of flesh missing from her side. Not cool. We'll try to keep her as comfortable as possible and see if she gets any better.

Other than that, there isn't too much going on. I go back to work tomorrow, so I have that to look forward to. Yay, lol.

I guess I'll leave this horribly boring blog at that.

I love the way raindrops look on leaves.

Mushrooms!

Perhaps these are Hobbit mushrooms?

Or portobello mushrooms?

Here's the wild bunny Bart caught.

Isn't it cute?

Fletcher.

Kyan's cage set. These pictures are usually taken with the cutting mat in the background.

Caterpillar!

Or just a worm? Ew!

A tooth for a tooth...

Since my aunt is still in no shape to drive on her own, I was the one that drove her to Perryville today so that she could go back to the dentist for a check-up. I have absolutely no problems chauffeuring people around, what I don't like is getting up super early in the morning. Since her dentist appointment was at 1PM, I had to get up at 10:40 in the morning!! Ahhh!

I actually just dozed off for like 20 minutes a little bit ago. At least I've had my power nap for the night!

We got to Perryville at 12:30, so we had 30 minutes to blow before the office opened up after their lunch break. Since my aunt bragged about a thrift store just around the corner, we decided to hit it up. It was just as I suspected, stuffy, crowded, and smelled of mothballs. I can't complain too much, considering I love finding great deals at places like that. Unfortunately, not too many deals were to be had. LaVaughn found a pair of shoes and I found a mini pitcher. That was pretty much it.

After we finished up there, we dropped our aunt of and headed to the pet store. After being in the place for 20 minutes, I'm kind of wishing we hadn't gone in. That place was a nightmare!! The cages were all filthy, 90% of the animals had no water, and to top it off, they had about 7 puppies in a play pin that were just shitting and pissing in the floor!! And of course, they had no food or water.

They also had two cages of kittens. The top cage had 3 kittens, they all looked semi healthy. The bottom cage had probably 4 or 5 and they all had an upper respiratory disease. It was awful! And on top of the two kitten cages, there sat that poor Patagonian Mara!! It's a lot bigger now, so it was really crammed in there. It also had no food or water.

And of course, they had sugar gliders. They had 2 girls and a boy. We got them out and looked at them, even though we shouldn't have. They were SO pitiful!! I wanted to take them all home, but they were all sold. :( All they had was some type of colorful dry food in their cage. It was awful.

I still can't get that awful smell out of my nose.

After we left Perryville, we stopped at KFC so that my aunt could eat. She insisted that we get something to eat to, but we decided to wait and eat at Dairy Bar in Fredericktown. We ate super early today, at like 3 in the evening!! When I don't have to work, we normally eat at 6 or 7. When I do have to work, we eat at 10 or 11, so it was WAY too early for dinner, lol.

Well, I suppose that's all for now. Time to head to Sonic for a half priced shake!

Yes, they had a prairie dog.

Cutest prairie dog in the world!!

And some cute ferrets.

Their cage was filthy.

Albino snake eating a rabbit. :(

Bunnies!

These hedgehogs were mean!

I think these were quails.

Look how filthy their cage was!

Disgusting!

I wanted one of these SO bad!

Look at all the shit in the floor!

They also had no food or water.

And yes, they had an alligator.

Check out my awesome little mini pitcher.

No idea what I'll do with it, but at least I got something from the place.

And lastly, LaVaughn's shoes. Not bad, eh? :)

Dentists and Pet Stores and Rats - Oh My!

My poor dear sister had to go to the dentist today to deal with her tooth ache. Not sure if you remember me posting about her last dentist visit, but it didn't go well. She left with a tooth ache and $50 poorer. Well today, she got to go to her childhood dentist, Dr. Hutchison. We were in the waiting room for probably 20 minutes before she got called back. All the while being forced to watch the funerals of all the kids that were murdered in CT last week. Thanks a lot waiting room TV!

Anyway, she was probably in the room for 15 minutes before she came out and was ready to go. Apparently she had a mass infection an had a hole drilled in the back of her tooth so that the infection could drain out - ouch!! By the time we got to the car, she was already a million times better! Not all she has to do is take her Z-Pack over the weekend and come back next Wed. to get things finished up!

On out way out of town, we noticed that Jungle Gems pet store was still open. So, of course - we had to stop! As soon as we walked in, LaVaughn saw the baby rats! They had them separated into: Small, Medium and Large. Of course, we went for the baby ones. We only hung around the rats for a few minutes, then we started exploring the rest of the store. So much has changed since the original owner that we knew passed away. There are WAY more animals than ever before - especially guinea pigs! They had everything that your typical pet store had, except the Patagonian Mara! Man that thing was cute! And of course, they had a poor, poor sugar glider. seeing him in that cage made me want to cry. He was also already spoken for, so there was no chance of us taking him home.

After we made our rounds in the pet store, we eventually made our way BACK to the rats. We talked about them throughout the entire store and contemplated getting a couple babies. And it just so happened that these babies were only $3 each! Ugh, the horror! We asked the lady if we could hold them and she said yes. She just opened the cage door for us and walked away! She really doesn't know what she did there! After about 20 minutes of looking at/playing with/holding and kissing the baby rats, we finally decided on two!

I asked the girl if she gave discounts on multiple gliders and she said that since they were going to pet homes, she would let them go for $2 each. Hey, a dollar savings is a dollar savings! I think we both floated out of the sore - rats in hand. Now we have to decided if we want MORE when we go back next week!

We got two little girls, by the way. A mink hooded and a mink berkshire dumbo. They're to die for! Okay, enough talking - time for some pictures AND videos!!

Here are the pictures from the dentists office:

Fox News debates suck! I had to watch this the entire time she was in the back.

Pretty Christmas tree by my side, though.

Fake snow all over it!

See how pretty the tree was? I wanted to take it home, lol.

Here are the pictures from the pet store:

This big boy is a Blue and White Tegu!

Tegu's are huge!

Of course, they had to have a Rosehair Tarantula.

That wasn't as bad as the Brazilian Salmon Pink Birdeater! Shudder, shudder, SHUDDER!!!!

Cute little Chinese Water Dragon.

A Tokay Gecko.

Cornsnake.

An adorable little Chinchilla! This little guy loved LaVaughn. If only we had the space...

This parrot loved me!

Despite her look, I have video proof that she loved me. :)

Blue Tongue Skink.

Awesome water turtle.

And of course, Red Eared Slider.

A ball of ferrets! As you can tell, they were in bad need of a cage cleaning.

Can't forget the bunny!

And the guinea pigs.

And more guinea pigs.

More adorable bunnies.

LaVaughn had a favorite.

Even more cute bunnies!

Oh how I love hamsters...

And MORE guinea pigs!

Such adorable little hamsters.

This tank was full of to die for gerbils! I wanted one so bad!

A skinny pig!!

More cute guinea pigs!

And yes, these are more guinea pigs.

This was the Goblin King of guinea pigs.

Now for the Patagonian Mara!

Such a cute baby Patagonian Mara.

This little Patagonian Mara was only 2 1/2 months old.

The poor little pet store sugar glider... made me so sad.

This hairless guinea pig was awesome!

Of course, there was a puppy.

And lastly, a parolette! :)

Now for the pictures of our new ratties:

Yes, the girl gave us a cricket container for them.

At least they had air screens.

 This is our berkshire girl.

And this is our hooded girl.

Of course, we had to stop at Dairy Bar:

 Love the neon lighting.

The menu that's been up for as long as I can remember!

Where they come out to deliver your food.

Bonus Blog!

The excitement of new rats quickly came to an end when we got home. Our little berkshire girl (Emilie) was fine. She ate some cheese and walked around like normal. Our other little girl (Sally) was a different story. I puller her out of the box and she was stiff! She was just sitting in my hand, frozen! She wouldn't move and was hardly breathing. I kept her in my hands, hoping that once she got warm she would be better. Well, she wasn't. LaVaughn made her some "gruel" and put it in a dropper feeder. Gruel is just a mix of dry food, water and a tad of milk. Anyways, poor little Sally was just sitting there with her mouth partially open. I pulled it the rest of the way open and LaVaughn started putting a little food in her mouth. She didn't do anything at first, but then decided to lick the rest of it up. This went on for about 5 minutes. Then out of no where, she leached on to the dropper and started swallowing the food! I think she went through 3 droppers before she was done! This poor little girl was starving to death! Of course, we gave Emily some and she loved it equally as much. Well... maybe not as much.

Here are a couple pictures of them from when we got home:

See how tiny she is compared to the dropper.

Not sure if you can tell, but these little girls are TINY! We were told that they were 6 weeks old - give or take a day. WRONG! These little girls are 3 weeks old, 4 weeks max! They are far too young to be away from their mom. I hate what breeders do to their animals. It's sickening. If we hadn't got her when we did, she wouldn't have made it.

While the girls were napping, we also decided to make them a little mini cage set to go in their smaller cage. They'll get a HUGE upgrade once they're bigger and can't fit through the bars.

Here's their cage set and cage set up:

 Smallest cage set ever!!

Tiny little pouch.

Smallest corner hammocks in the world!

Their cage set up.

The bridge.

The circle toy that LaVaughn made.

 And now for the videos!
