Playing dice for Q-Tips...

What a busy few days it's been! I guess that's why it's been so long since my last post -- 1 week tomorrow! So, I left you with Norman and his penis issues. Well thankfully, things are finally starting to look up (knock wood), The color has practically returned to normal and it's retracted by 80%. We've been keeping him very lubricated with Vetericyn and KY Jelly.

He's been living alone for a week now, which is heartbreaking. After he started to heal, he starting crying for his family. He's 4 months old, but such a baby in some ways still. Once he's 100% recovered from this, we're going to introduce him to Ginny. They will (hopefully) make the cutest couple!

Speaking of gliders, I'm going to give you a rundown on all the happenings with all the mamas and their babies. Ellie is FINALLY starting to show, quite a bit, actually. Charli is fairly huge and was evening singing a couple days ago. Chloe's babies are huge and fluffy and so sweet. Jim has a home lined up, but Dale is still available. Kira's little girl is so cute, but she's a little punk. I'll probably create an ad for her later this week.

In cat news, Toby is still missing. Have I even mentioned that he's been gone for 2 weeks now? Bart disappeared for over 3 weeks, so I'm still holding out hope for Toby. Mason and Jasper have been MIA for the past 2 days now, but Mason showed up today, thankfully. Cersei and Bart hang around the house almost all the time, which is great. I just wish the boys would stop running off. As much as I don't want to admit it, I think Bart is chasing them off and fighting them.

So, aside from animals, not too much as been going on. I've been working and sewing, that's pretty much it. I worked Saturday for just over 3 hours -- not that I'm complaining. Sunday I sewed a cage set, vacuumed the house, vacuumed the glider room, cleaned drop trays, did laundry, and cleaned the rat cage. Busy day! Monday I had to drive my aunt to Cape so that she could get an injection in her back... Not fun! We left the house just before noon and didn't get home until almost 8.

I was so aggravated at myself. I completely forgot to get the Redbox game and movie that we rented, so as soon as we got home, LaVaughn and I had to turn around and go straight into Piedmont before 9 that night. This was after we shut the chickens and ducks up, fed the cats, dogs, and put the groceries away. I also had to feed the gliders when we got back from Piedmont just before 9. I was so exhausted! I also had to work the following day, which completely sucked. It didn't help that we were super busy -- you have no idea how sore I am from running all over the place at work.

Today I've been semi chill. I cut out a cage set last night. Oh yeah, let me break here for a second and tell you about the fleece that arrived in the mail. I ordered fleece from Hancock last week and it arrived Monday, but they were out of 3 different things that we ordered, so I had to order fillers from Fabric.com which won't  be here until Saturday. Sigh...

Anyways, I had one that was paired up, so I cut that out last night and sewed it up today. A lady that ordered a cage set from me last week and paid via money transfer (at Walmart) commented on the set I posted a little while ago and then she sent me a message. She told me that she loved it and wanted it, but she didn't get paid for a few days. I could tell how much she wanted it, so I told her I had no problems holding it for her.

I hate that the rest of our fleece won't be here for a few more days. I badly want to cut more and sew.

Hmm... what else. Monday while we were waiting on my aunt, we decided to do some much needed grocery shopping. We loaded up on Morning Start and Cinnabon coffee creamer while we were there. After that we headed to Hastings where we walked around and ended up scoring Clay and Gemma POP! Funko's to complete our Sons Of Anarchy collection. Yay!

They had a "Buy One Get One For 50% Off" sale on their POP! Funko toys, but we thought they were all 50% off, so we had like 9 of them -- 7 being Walking Dead ones. It didn't take us long to put them all back once we figured out what the sale really was, haha. Oh well, maybe next time. :)

Well I guess that's all for now. There will be lots of cute joey pictures at the bottom that I took today. Hope you enjoy...

Love & Peace

Sugar glider penis issues...

I know, not the most appealing title, but it's basically what we've been dealing with all day. LaVaughn and I heard distressed crabbing coming from Chloe and Boone's cage today, so we immediately checked it out. This was at 9 AM, mind you, we were both still sound asleep at this time. When we got there, LaVaughn saw that Chloe was chasing Norman around tugging on his penis. I kid you not, she was pulling and biting with all her might!

We got him out of the cage as quick as we could and put him in a cage by himself.

I've been consulting with people that have extensive knowledge in this department and as of right now, a vet isn't necessary. If he's showing no signs of improvement by tomorrow, then we're going to the vet. Until then we're applying Vetericyn and Vaseline to keep his penis moist until it retracts. We've also applied Preparation H once, which is all we can do in a day.

I'll be so glad when the swelling goes down and we can put this behind us.

In other news, it's cold as hell outside and there's still snow on the ground from Tuesday nights mini snow storm. Jeez Tuesday was a nightmare. I had to work 1-7, but I knew I wouldn't be able to stay my entire shift, so I got someone to cover 4-7 for me. I'm so glad I did too, because it started sleeting right after I left.

And of all days, I get this notification in the car -- more like a warning -- saying that the left rear tire was flat. When I looked it said that it had 11 pounds in it! I quickly went to the nearest station and put 29ish pounds in it. I had to pay $1 for air, which sucked. I also couldn't figure out how to administer the air into the tire until I let ALL of the air out of the tire causing it to go completely flat. Luckily I got it aired up before my time ran out.

It started sleeting and freezing rain while I was squatted outside trying to get the air compressor to work. I still had to go to the store for a couple things, get gas, and go by Redbox to return Uncharted. It was a nightmare day. The roads kept getting worse and worse, but luckily they cleared up the closer I got to home.

What takes me 30-35 minutes to get home took me an hour that day.

I sewed a 9 piece cage set Wednesday, then played the sims for a while. I started obsessing over Norman as soon as I got up today, then cut out 2 cage sets that I can hopefully sew up tomorrow. I've been worrying about Norman and playing the sims the rest of the evening. Very boring stuff.

We have to go to town tomorrow and get some KY if Norman has shown signs of improvement. If not we'll be going to the vet.

Well I guess that's all for now. Hopefully tomorrow I have much better news to share. Until then...

Love & Peace

There's always something when you live on a farm...

After we got all the critters fed Saturday night, it was time to shut the chickens up. We keep the ducklings pinned up in the back of the chicken coop where they have access to their little pond of water. We trotted around back, peas in hand for their usual late night snack. To our surprise, Jon had a terrible cut on his bill! Not just any cut, a rather large cut and a huge, swollen lump.

Of course, we snatched him up and put him in a cage by himself in the house. Upon further investigation of his bill, it appears that he snagged it on some wire, only hooking himself more as he tried to free himself. Thus leaving it scraped and tore.

He's stable as of now, his bill is clean, and he's tucked away safe in the garage where he gets medicated twice a day. I don't think there's any need for him to be taken to the vet -- unless he gets progressively worse. We have Vetericyn, which is a miracle spray! I don't ever want to not have that on hand.

The anticipation of the 4th is really starting to get to me. But come on, it's only FOUR days away!! Since we have so many people coming down -- we're up to 6 now -- we're going to split our festivities into not one, but two days. Friday (the 4th) is mainly going to be a big family-ish BBQ with a few fireworks. Saturday is our big to do, which is what I'm looking forward to.

Not only will we be BBQing yet again, but we'll be setting off ALL our fireworks that night... all of them! We're also going to have a humongous bonfire, music, drinking, S'mores!! There are many good times to be had, my friends. I hope everyone has a blast this 4th, it's been too long.

All three of the kittens have some type of URI going on, which sucks and is not fun for anyone involved. Not only are the poor kittens miserable, but we have to worry about them potentially infecting the other outside cats. I call the vet a little while ago and explained the situation. Because she's so awesome and knows that we have so many kittens, she agreed to just perscribe them in some meds, which we'll be picking up Wed.

I completely forgot to ask if she had time to neuter Declan and Neal that day. It's either then or Thurs., because they wont be there Friday -- it's not like we would want to have neuters done that day anyways -- so I need to remember to call tomorrow and see if she has time.

I'm SO nervous to get these two neutered!! It's a must, though, they're getting far too old to be housed with a female nearing the age of maturity. I definitely don't want either of them fighting over her, I'm sure she would agree.

I know I'm missing a key subject in this blog. OH! I remember, we got our fleece today! It's a print that the lady picked out, but we matched the solids. The remaining fleece will be used for a rattie cage set, which I'm ecstatic about! I'm hoping we have enough to make doubles of everything -- the rats are so bad to chew and gnaw on their cage set items... it's frustrating. So there's another task for Wed., along with a dive to Fredericktown, neuters, stopping by the grocery store, grabbing a couple last minute fireworks, cleaning the glider cages, AND trimming everyone's nails. Yeah.. it's going to be a rough day.

Until then, I suppose I should try to rest up. I have a long day of work tomorrow, then an evening longer day of running errands. At least I'm off for a couple days after that.

Love & Peace

-Megan
