Bistro Saffron...

So, LaVaughn and I just had our FIRST ever sushi experience! We've wanted to try a California roll for as long as I can remember, but you honestly couldn't pay me enough to try sushi within a 50 mile radius of where we live, it's just wrong. And we're not the type to buy supermarket sushi either, so we've really never had an opportunity to do so. Until today, that is.

When we were first booking our hotel here, I noticed a little place called Bistro Saffron, which was located only a few miles from our hotel. Knowing how badly we both wanted to try sushi, we made a promise to ourselves that we would.

As soon as LaVaughn woke up today, I was practically dragging her out the hotel door so that we could go DO something! We went to the store fist so that we could pick up coffee filters -- and a few other things we didn't need, then we headed downtown to scope out some restaurants, which is when we found Bistro Saffron. We parked outside and I called our order in -- 1 California roll and 1 Philadelphia roll. We waiting for another 10 minutes or so, then I went in a picked them up.

We got back to the hotel room, broke out some chop sticks and started eating. I wasn't sure what to expect at first, but the result was actually quite tasty. LaVaughn got a little choked up on the amount of rice, but surprisingly enough, she liked it too.

I prefer the Cali roll, she prefers the Philly roll.

Aside from trying not only sushi and raw fish today, we also tried a type of caviar. Well, I don't suppose it's called caviar, it's called Masago. Which is basically the same thing as caviar -- raw fish eggs. Either way they were tasty, which completely blows my mind! They were sweet and delicate, something I would definitely try again.

Thanks for reading about my first sushi experience. I'm sure there will be more in the future, hopefully more exquisite -- perhaps sushi that's prepared by an actual Japanese chef. Until then...

Love & Peace
